A shot which captures the mysterious beauty of the U.P. Full moon behind its hazy veil, smiling through cedar boughs... mild temp, calm waters, inviting canoe... maybe the sound of a loon over on the other shore. And no wonder they call it Mirror Lake.

Mirror Lake is one of my favorite places on Earth.
A fair amount of effort is required to get there,
3 miles with backpack. The autumn trip with the
Park rangers is a long held tradition, and we all
are grateful that we still have the ambition and
strength to get there.

This photo came to me first when we were sitting
outside the cabin in the dark gazing over the
lake. It took just a little patience to make the
digital camera capture the scene.

One of the more beautiful pictures I've seen on this site. Keep it up. I was born in the U.P. and miss it greatly.

This is truly a beautiful picture. Where is Mirrow Lake? I've never been there before.

Can you give us some camera tips? What kind of a camera do you use? Did you use a tripod on this shot? How do you have the settings? Any help you could give would be helpful.

I've noticed that Dan's posting is narrower
than other postings. As an experiment, I've
posted above as dl-Hancock using Netscape
on a Mac (no problem with the wrapping of
text).

This posting is done with Internet Explorer 5.0
on a Mac too, but the text doesn't wrap
properly. I've read in different sources that
IE/Mac sometimes has a problem with things
not lining up correctly.

Conclusion: If you want the text to flow properly
and you use a Mac ... use Netscape.

are scrunched.

Just returned from three wonderful days at the two bunk cabin on Mirror Lake. We back packed in the three miles (first time back packing) with 60 lb. packs, to much stuff, will know better the next time. At age 60 I had my doubts I could make it but with the help and love of my Sweetie CC who planned the trip we made it. If you have a chance to go to Mirror Lake do it, it's as close to Heaven as you will get here on earth.
