Of all the photographers who have contributed to the Pasty Cam, one of the most experienced and prolific is Charlie Eshbach. Besides producing the Keweenaw Traveler along with his son Josh, Charlie's works range from dogsled races in Alaska, to waterfalls and historic structures of the U.P., to countless pictures of people and nature.

This shot has special meaning to another Charlie (myself), as it brings a flood of memories exploring the banks of Eagle River with my son and daughter growing up here in this tiny village which shares the same name. The kids are older now - Becky a freshman at Michigan Tech, soon to be married (in a dress from Charlie Eshbach's wife, by the way) - and Jonathan absorbed in a full time career as the technical brains behind Pasty Central's web hosting/ISP service here in the Keweenaw.

One vivid memory, in the Fall about 10 years ago, the three of us explored an old mining ruins just up the river from this spot. The color and fragrance of the leaves, the sunlight, a chill in the air, the sound of geese high above... Today's Pasty Cam brings it all back.

This brings back memories for me too. Although, mine are of the Big Bear, Little Bear Lake area and Iron Mountain. I would love to see some of the Iron Mountain area. I now live in Florida and I really become homesick in the fall. Thanks for sharing.

I just set this picture as wallpaper. I hate to lose the old one of the sunset or sunrise with the big lake and the porkies in the background but as I only have one computer I must say goodby to it and hello to this beautiful picture. I'm sure I have similar ones in my photo albums. One of these days I'll have to dig them out. Thanks for all the beautiful pictures. I check the pasty cam and pasty mail every morning. What a great way to begin the day.

my beloved U.P. in the fall. I'm coming home for a
visit in about 10 days and am keeping my fingers
crossed there will be plenty of color left in the
trees. Even if there isn't, the smell of the
leaves crunching under my feet and the views of
Superior are worth the 2,000 miles it takes to get
there.

My husband and I were just there last week for a vacation in the UP. We miss it already. Thanks for such beautiful photographic reminders of God's paradise, the UP.

Hello from WebTV land... This morning I am setting up a Web TV account for Mike Patterson's folks, Bob and Beth, who are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. To Kim Debary Florida. You mentioned being from the Iron Mountain area? I am from the Iron River area and live in Sanford, just down the road from you. I feel the same way about missing the UP. This is a great site and enjoy it so much.

No place like home....that's the UP, for sure.
I grew up in Iron Mountain. But sadly I moved to the LP in the late 60's. But I still consider IM home. Swimming at Grandpa's on "Moon Lake", Cowboy Lake and the leaches, or walking out forever in the water's at Lake Antione...
heck I even swam in the Cornish Pump's water between the pistons. Whoa, for sure as a kid that wasn't too bright. Now they built a building around it and charge an entrance fee...
Porketta sandwiches, Becco's market, Roma's & Casa Loma's pizza, C&R Fish Fry, the bear & the peacock at the Park-Zoo, Pine Mountain winter fun, Ice skating, and blue moon ice cream. Nothing smells like home, until you walk into Becco's market, Bimbo's or the woods down at City Park. J.M.R.
