It's amazing to watch a thousand foot vessel dock. Today I was fortunate to witness this boat, the Lee A. -------- (couldn't make out the last name), pull into Marquette Harbor. Wind was moderate out of the northeast and the lake was starting to bite at the side of Presque Isle Pier. Bet they're happy to be in port.

Hey, that's the Lee A. Tregurtha, Lakes Shipping Company's 826' bulker. Thanks for the great work.

It's the Lee A. Tregurtha. Acutually, she's only 826 ft. long, not 1000. She's owned by "Lakes Shipping Co., which is a division of the Interlake Steamship Co. out of Ohio. Don't get to see much of this Tregurtha down here. She is, in my opinion, one of the most unique looking boats on the lakes, I love to watch them!

We were stationed at KI Sawyer until it closed. We used to like watching ships come into and out of docks.

How could a person get to go on the Lee A Tregurtha as a passenger? My husband has always wanted to go on a freighter across the great lakes. His father was a worker on one of the gasoline tankers in the 40's (I think) and told many interesting tales of being aboard ship. I am hoping I can buy him a spot to make his dream come true. How can I find information to do this?
We just returned from a few days in the UP where we saw the Tregurtha go thru the Soo Locks. Can anyone point me in the right directions? Thank
you.
