Great pic Sue. I used to love this spot when I was a kid traveling from bootjack to Bete Gris for Blueberry Picking! Thanks for the memory!

Found this Christmas gift in my Inbox from Sue and Bob Haralson... On a ride out towards Gay they snapped this peaceful shot from the Tobacco River bridge. The detail and perspective reminded me of the photo by John Olson from Tehquamenon Falls which appeared on these pages a couple of months ago:

From the Archives
By the way, this particular shot appeared very near the top in the voting for our Pasty Cam 2002 calendar. We have sent out hundreds of the new full size wall calendars this month, and I apologize for those who did not receive it by Christmas, because of the slow mail. If you haven't ordered your Pasty Cam 2002 calendar yet, simply go to the pasty order form and indicate how many of the calendars you would like. It's not necessary to order pasties, although it is a tasty option if you are so inclined :o)

So beautiful, Sue! I was out today learning to use my new camcorder and as I photographed the Aux Sable Creek in Illinois I commented that it reminded me of the creeks in the UP but I was wrong! There is just no comparison to the Keweenaw! I can't wait to return to Copper Harbor this summer with my new camera!

I vote for this in the 2003 calendar, I recieved my 2002 calenders in time to give to my sister for X-mass, sure makes me miss the UP.

Beautiful photo. Nothing much prettier than trees dusted with snow.

Spent the day in the U.P. on the 26th and drove out traprock road and thought about going up the Gay hill but didn't. Had to walk Mother Superior's shores in Eagle River. Best day all winter!

OH MY GOODNESS! I couldn't believe this picture! My family on my father's side was from Mohawk. I spent Summer after Summer visiting my Grandmother there, when I was a pre-teenager and into my early teens. I used to cool off in THIS SPOT! Talk about memories! (I am 45 now). My dad was born in Gay. In the blue house! (I recall there only being 3 or 4 houses there!) Can someone get a shot of the old smokestack in Gay? I live in Georgia and long for a visit to the U.P. with my family. I love the pix and info from Pasty Central... What memories!

We drive this beautiful road and see the exact same place on the way to our camp in Bete Grise- south point. THANK YOU for sharing a Christmas memory for some lonesome flatlanders.

This is a special place. 'Twas a pleasant surprise to see it today. I know I'll return to this picture often.
