Today my sister and brother-in-law, Bill and Linda Cook, drove up from down-state, and I asked if they snapped any shots along the way. I was curious to know if they had as little snow at Mackinaw City as we do here in the Copper Country. As you can see, just a little edging of white along the water.

The texture of this photo reminded me of another shot I received from Linda and Bill this summer when they went to Australia. This is a first for the Pasty Cam: a glimpse of the land down-under.

Way South

Oh how I love to see the bridge... anytime of the year!!! Alpena is "my neck of the woods" and I can just see in my mind the drive on US23 your sister and brother-in-law had on the way to the U.P. It's very pretty! Can't believe there is still no snow!!!!

It is hard to believe there isn't much snow up there. We are at the Grand Canyon in sunny Arizona and there is more snow here than you have there. We moved out here in March from the Copper Country and the kids were hoping to have a green Christmas and you have it more than we do.

It's always awe inspiring at the first sight of the Mackinaw bridge. That is such a wonderful area up in northern Michigan. I can't believe there is no snow yet. Keep the beautiful pictures coming. It's my way of being there when I can't be. What happened to your logo in the lower right hand of the second picture?

Cute, Charlie, the land "down-under." But I think you've been watching too many of those bizarre new upside-down Land Rover (I think) commercials.

The logo in the one picture? Well thats the way it is down under. I like the pic of Big Mac. In the summer of 1956 we took the ferry accross from the UP on our way to Detroit. At that time the bridge was under construction, and being a young kid looking at those towers was very impressive.

Building Mighty MacThere is an excellent article about those bridge-building days in the Rearview Mirror section of the Detroit News. This shot was taken not long after Ernie from Washington crossed on that ferry.

Hei, Charlie, Had to smile when I saw the 'down-under' watermark. Clever!
