Last night a free lecture at the Rozsa Center in Houghton, Brent Turner wowed the crowd with a dazzling display of electrical excitement. Here he is sitting on top of about 3/4 million volts of static generated by a machine of his own design, patterned after Nikola Tesla's invention over 100 years ago.

It's part of the ongoing MTU Great Events Series. For more information about upcoming events, call 487-2844 (area code 906).

Hey... maybe this explains why the whole Keweenaw Peninsula had a black out this morning??

By Jerry-Mich on Wednesday, November 14, 2001 - 08:06 pm:

SHOCKING

So did the blackout cover the entire Keewenaw? Did it make it out to Copper Harbor? I agree with Jerry, it is shocking. And you know as elctrfying as that looks I can't help but wonder if he shed light on the entire situation (what situation has yet to be determined)

We definately need a new source of energy. I think Tesla's ideas were right on. Its great to see someone explore this part of Tesla's science of electricity.

I wish to add to the Tesla Coil show at MTU by
recommending that your students read my
Tesla web site. My students and I have ten
major universities (including Harvard, Yale,
Princeton, and MIT) supporting us in our quest
to make Tesla a better known American
scientist. Do you care to join us?

http://ntesla.org

As of December 2006 we now have 19 major universities displaying our bust of Tesla. Are your EE students still not interested in joining my efforts to promote, honor, and preserve Tesla's memory in history? How about you history majors?

John Wagner's website ntesla.org is a fascinating and informative study of the issues surrounding Tesla, and well worth the time you'll spend browsing the site.
