I will always cherish the memories of several peaceful late-March paddles around the eastern end of Lac La Belle. Out in the sloughs you expect a moose to come strolling by at any moment. I have yet to find such a peaceful and inviting little stretch of water anywhere else.

Thanks to Bryan (who is probably camping at this vantage point tonight) for the wonderful view.

I'd also like to say thank you to all of the well-wishers from yesterday's episode of the Pasty Cam...and no it wasn't scripted (Katriina was quite surprised) but it turned out very well.

Jon, you ARE a very brave man:) Glad it turned out well for you both! I showed my 11 yr old son and his comment was, "That guy's nuts!!"

Your picture brings back many happy memories of time spent in Lac La Belle,(70's)hiking up Mt. Bohemia and climbing the fire tower, camping in the sloughs, etc. We stayed at our aunt's camp which is located next to the tall white camp just left of center in your photo. Many of our friends had cottages along Sand Point road. I once saw a boat run aground on the sand bar that is visible off the tip of Sand Point. Thanks!

This pic brings back more memories. I used to cut cedar with my step-dad at Bete Grise. Mine timbers and ties and poles. (mid 50s) My aunt and uncle also had a cottage on Lac La Belle. His name was Elwood Jaaskelainen, grew up in Fulton. Sure is a pretty picture, Bryan.

Fantastic picture....am wondering if you have another that looks more towards Keweenaw Point from the same vantage point? It sure makes a great wallpaper for my screen. Thanks again for the fantasic pictures.

This is an incredible picture! My grandparents cottage is just off the Sand Point Rd tip. I spent many summers there and was brave enough to boat over to the sloughs and spend the night with three other girls. Nothing like tying up food in garbage bags and slinging 'em from the pines! Great memories of a great place for kids growing up!!
Thanks!
