In the past 7 days there has been quite a bit of precipitation across the U.P. While we received a little snow in the Copper Country, over toward Marquette it really piled up... enough to make a snowman to hold up Mr. Pumkin for this pose.

Rain is falling tonight in the Keweenaw Peninsula, probably too warm to become snow yet. All in good time.

On an unrelated matter, are any of our regular Cam-watchers aware of Pasty Central appearing in the news the past couple of days? We have had a sudden avalanche of pasty orders, and they seem to come from all over the country. Sometimes we receive a brief mention in the press (New York Times, syndicated food columns, etc.) and the old order counter heats up. This might be a good time to remind our friends in the Minneapolis area, you can pick up Pasty Central pasties at Grandma's near the Mall of America (and save the shipping). You guys have any snow yet?

Sorry I didn't order any pasties, but I mentioned to a few friends that I regularly check out the PastyCam. Of course they complained that since I haven't made them in quite a while, I should stop talking about pasties and get busy and make 'em. A dozen big beauties later (with my preference of 'beggies) I was again the Pasty Queen in the crowd. Always good eating pasties while waiting for the 1st snows to hit (surprise) the drivers here in the south. I sure appreciate the gorgi photos. Keep talkin' up the UP!!

No snow here in the Minneapolis area yet. Northern Minnesota had some snow last week (about 10") but most of it has melted. Ten years ago on Halloween we had a major snow storm that dropped 20". We can wait a little while for the white stuff. We are heading up to the Keeweenaw this weekend for a little R & R. Cant't wait to get there!!!!!!!!

The November issue of Gourmet magazine, page 36 was fun reading for this ex yooper, but eternal cousin Jack. Pasty.com was mentioned. John Willoughby redeemed himself!

My wife mentioned that a woman making pasties on
either the Cooking channel or the Travel channel, mentioned the UP, recently...

By Evelyn, Texas on Wednesday, October 31, 2001 - 02:28 pm:

I grew up in the UP and make the traditional cornish pasties which is THE favorite meal for our family. However, my son grew up in Texas and he added a new twist to his. He adds jalapeno peppers to his. Interesting. Bye the way, he now lives in England and we just recently came back from a visit there. My husband ate his way through England and Wales eating pasties almost every day. There was only one that we thought was as good as ours.

Is that a partially melted Pillsbury Doughboy which his right mitt around the root beer-brown licorice-stick jack o'lantern stem, Charlie, or is my imagination just running away with itself again?

By Jennifer, MN on Wednesday, November 14, 2001 - 12:55 am:

Wow, if that's what happens there on October 30, can't wait to see the area in February when my husband and I plan on visiting to do some snowmobiling!
