On the way out of Calumet, heading north toward Copper Harbor, the wind ripped down a power line, which sagged inches above US 41. Pasty Camist Jon Hopper called me on his cell phone, and we promptly notified UPPCO of the situation. The guy by the truck directing traffic actually looks like someone from the Keweenaw County Road Commission, although this is in Houghton County.

I just looked back through the archives trying to find the sign about "Superb Scenic Views" where you cross into Keweenaw about a mile north of here. Could it be that we have never featured that landmark?? Anybody have a shot of the sign?

Where's the White Stuff? We heard the famous White Stuff was going to hit your part of the country up there today. Your fun begins.

No snow yet in our neck of the woods. For the avid snow watcher, be sure to bookmark George's Eagle Harbor website, because this year's snow guessing contest is under way!

The Keweenaw road commission usually plows 41 up to Pine Street. Could be that this guy was doing a pre-winter inspection.

Another possiblity is that he was on his way to Cedar Bay via Centennial....

When I was working for the KCRC during the summer, while in college, that is the route we took if we went to Cedar Bay....

Former Yooper is correct, The Keweenaw County Road Commission maintains US 41 in Houghton County to M 203.

I was at the house on the right in August, around 95 degrees at that time.

I don't have a digital camera to show you all the snow here in Watersmeet. About 18 inches. More snow is suppose to fall tonight. All the trees are bent over with the wet snow sticking to them

See www.keweenawnow.com for a weather story on the power outage in Keweenaw County and high waves and "seiche" conditions on the Great Lakes.

With all the high winds and waves on the Lake, how about a picture or two of McLains shoreline? Is there any damage?

By Lee, Ca on Saturday, October 27, 2001 - 09:53 pm:

I looked at the www.keweenawnow.com site as recommended by Michele Anderson, and the weather topics were interesting. However, as I continued to look at the rest of the site, I was shocked and angered to see that the Finlania University was hosting a forum for what sounded like tolerance for Middle Eastern people in our country! Are you folks up there aware that we are AT WAR??!! These people hate Americans, and live and die to kill us. Their religion dictates that this is their sole purpose in their dreaded lives! You CAN NOT NEGOIATE, UNDERSTAND, PLEAD PEACE with people whose goal in life is to KILL YOU!! We must deport every person who is not a U.S. citizen, and CLOSE OUR BORDERS FOR OUR OWN SURVIVAL!! Get it yet??? Leave it to a liberal college to ruin a town and area like the beautiful UP, by supporting a rainbow coalition of beggars and transplanted terrorist seeds! Sorry to spread a negative light on a great site like the pastycam, but after going to Keweenawnow website, I'm totally enflamed. God Bless America, our President and leaders, the American people, and my own family.

wish that people would learn to spell Bete Gris, the way it should be, not as Bete Grise
