Earlier this week we were sitting in Hardees in Houghton, which has a great view of the canal and the bridge. A couple of rowing teams glided past, reminding me of this shot I had received some time ago from Rochelle Fischer, who describes herself as "an MTU grad who misses the Keweenaw". Her friend Jessica Lutz took the shot from the pontoon used by their coach, Terri Smyth. They had more people than they needed to fill the 8-man that day so Jessica and Rochelle switched spots in the boat halfway through the row.
I want to say thanks to all who have emailed pictures to the Pasty Cam, and apologize that we haven't used them all yet. By the way, the Wallpaper of the Week feature has been updated (long overdue) and we'll try to keep it up each week. The month of September included Dan Urbanski's wonderful shot of fog in the valley, a look at the mouth of the Montreal (which has been in the news recently) taken by Bryan and Becky Howard, and some nifty Autumn scenes by Jon Hopper, who's wearing out his 3rd Pasty Cam.

What a great shot of the Portage! I've only seen one rowing picture better -- then Gazette photog Karin Emond's fantastic golden sunrise shot of another of Terri's teams gliding along. Thank's for the return of the WOW as well -- I already "adapted" last week's beautiful Porkies pic to grace my desktop at work.
