This week we made a quick trip down to Green Bay to take my mom to the airport, for her flight back down south. Along the way we saw this roadside memorial, just south of Crystal Falls.

We have noticed several online visitors from that area and would be interested to hear more about this relatively new monument.

Time is doing strange things these days. We went from Wednesday to Thursday and back to Wednesday again! Yikes! Is tomorrow Friday or Saturday?

By Charlie at Pasty Central on Saturday, October 13, 2001 - 06:47 am:

JS is referring to the time warp which happens whenever the daily upload of the Pasty Cam is labeled as two days prior (i.e., Friday becomes Wednesday). The glitch was promptly corrected.

But to make thing even more interesting, JS posted the previous message on Friday in the state of Washington, which happened to be Saturday here in the Eastern Time Zone (although it is possible that the shot above may be in Central Time). So what is tomorrow? Tune in and find out.

Thanks for the heads up, JS, and for those who woke up your sleepy Pasty Cam editor with a full inbox :o)

With all due respect to the true blue yoopers at
Pasty Central, the Paint River Memorial
Plaque is NORTH (about 6 miles) of Crystal
Falls on Hwy 141. I vacationed near that spot
last August when the temps. soared over
100F. Relief was found swimming at Runkle
Lake during the HUMUNGOUS FUNGUS
FEST celebration. Where ten-foot square
pizzas, horse-pulls, cold beer on tap were the
order ofthe day.

K. you are right. It IS north of Crystal Falls. Second mistake I've made all year, and both on the same day! Seriously, we appreciate corrections to this site, and welcome any observations which can help Pasty Central be a more accurate, pleasant browsing experience.

What do all the flags stand for? I certainly recognise the American Flag, (God Bless America), but I do not recognise the rest of them. Does anyone know?

By Ken, Kazoo, MI on Saturday, October 13, 2001 - 07:50 pm:

DMac, could they be different airborne division flags?

By Chris, MN on Sunday, October 14, 2001 - 03:45 pm:

DMac & Ken, the flag on the right is from the 101st Air Assault Division. That's the only one I recognize. Interesting, the sign says the memorial is from the 82nd Airborne Division Assn., though I don't see the 82nd's crest.

By jason cain, MI on Thursday, October 25, 2001 - 05:43 pm:

As a former 82nd paratrooper, i will state that the flag on the far right is indeed 101st, the black and white flag in the middle right is MIA/POW. The flag just to the left of MIA/POW is (i think - don't quote me) the 82nd ABN Div. Association flag. The red flag on the right is a glider unit's flag. Glider units were of WWII era, and no longer exist. The other two flags on the left i have no clue about.
sorry that i couldn't be of more help.
