Unusually sunny and warm today in the Keweenaw. Feels more like July then September. The colorful display of flags outside Coppertown USA Mining Museum caught my eye as I was on the way to Pamida from Still Waters. The Museum has a pleasant website with several online exhibits.

Didn't know Calumet has a Pamida? Oh, it's been in Calumet for several years now, south of the downtown area on Sixth Street. A Subway and a Burger King, too. We even have traffic lights! The place has probably changed a lot, if you haven't been here in a decade or so. But its mining heritage is still very much a part of the community.

I can't imagine a traffic light north of Hancock. Of course it's been about 15 years. Please tell me there's not more traffic than a 4-way stop sign could handle!

Try Copper Harbor - they have a couple of lights I think. Things seem to be booming there as well - new restaurants etc.

There are not any green-yellow-red traffic lights in Copper Harbor, like there are in Calumet and Houghton. And I don't recall off hand seeing any in Hancock, for that matter. Can anybody enlighten us?

There are no green-yellow-red traffic lights in Hancock, only one in Calumet and none North of Calumet, thank Heavens. Hopefully the one in Calumet is the last one in the Copper Country.

Calumet is a growing metropolis...it has two lights (one also by the high school)!
