Special thanks to Jim Haralson for providing some good memories of Lake Linden this week. Just a reminder... The Village of Lake Linden has introduced a message board for topics of interest to residents and visitors. See the progress on a new 300,000 gallon reservoir construction project.

The tradition of public improvements continues :o)

You guys at pasty.com are terrific! Where do you come up with this stuff??

Black and white photos are really something. Its really neat that a picture with such little color has so much depth and character. These shoebox photos are amazing, even for those of use that were not even a thought at the time.
Keep up the fantastic work! The Pasty Cam is a blessing for all.

Mike, if you think that is amazing to you who were not even "thought of" at the time, imagine what it is like to those of us who were. We look at these pictures and they look like they were of the olden days. But the olden days were when our folks were young, not us! We were in Houghton, Lake Linden, Keweenaw for the summer of 1948 and 49. I was 9 and 10. I remember listening to the presidential campaign news on the radio. I really don't remember everything looking so, so...antique. The pictures are great!!

From the looks of that street they must have been happy when it snowed and 'leveled' it out!

I really enjoy the OLD black & white pictures.
There are some exceptional ones on the Copper
Country Reflections website available on Pastycoms
Homepage -- Take a long long look at how things
were back in the "BOOM" times.

Hei, Charlie, How about a modern day shot from that same place for us to compare? Just a thought. I used to ride the school bus down this street from '51 to '54. Don't remember it being so narrow. :o) Lived in Hubbell then. Later we moved to Tamarack Mills so I graduated from Dollar Bay HS in '57. Kiitos, Charlie!

I remember when this street was torn up and new concrete was put down. I was 7 years old at the time. When we would go to Lake Linden to do shopping my brother and I would sit on the sidewalk and watch the construction.

What a great shot, except that I wish the photo was from a little further down, then it would have included my dad's bakery which is long gone. If anyone has a good shot of Schei's Bakery in their shoebox, I sure would like to have a copy since I don't have one in mine.
