Where is the location? Bete Grise Bay looking north to Cooper Harbor?

By Carl & Carol - MI on Friday, August 17, 2001 - 08:14 am:

We are looking forward to going to our Ontonagon home tonight for some R&R, where this is the view from our beach (a few miles east of where Dan took the photo). The phrase, "Look at the Porkies NOW!" is the phrase used most often when the first person steps onto the beach and looks left.

If we can see what's in this picture (the distinctive slope/hump of the Porcupine Mountains), then it's a clear day. If we can't see it we know there is a lot of humidity in the air or a storm coming. It also changes colors, and often appears very dark blue, especially in the winter. Never a dull moment in the U.P.!

Thanks for the inspiration, "neighbor Dan!"

Just got back from a week long vacation just East of where this shot was taken & it looks almost as beautiful on the computer as it did in person. Great job Dan....also thanks for signing my Aunt's picture we bought for her of the northern lights (it means a lot to her!). We'll be putting our northern lights shot on our wall tomorrow next to the sunset shot you took last year. Thanks again & keep up the great work!!!
