There was a good turnout for the Popeye, in spite of some really overcast conditions. Some folks travel a long way to take part in this race year after year, including the Johnson's there on the main page from Rockford, IL.

As I type these words, I'm sitting here in the official Race T-shirt, which is long sleeved this year. You should see our collection of Popeye run T-shirts over the years. This latest model will be a hard one to beat.

And that's the news from the Harbor. For more, see George's Eagle Harbor site.

So where's a picture of the T-shirt, Charlie? and did you get my e-mail about Gitche's Rieska or did I send it to an old address?

Man, i wish i could've run the ol' popeye and try to defend my 1999 5K title, but i was stuck in the shack with a cold.
Does anybody know the winning times and such?

Thanks

It ain't no Bay to Breakers.... How many people participate in this race?

By Charlie at Pasty Central on Monday, July 9, 2001 - 12:05 am:

Eric -

The winning time in the 5K was 22:08 by Tim Dombrowski. You and I both have run sub-19:00 times in this race, so I bet you would have taken that trophy, even with a cold. Of course I didn't run because... well... because I don't have room for any more trophies on my mantle ;o>

In the Righteous Name of Sir Popeye, I'll put in a "Second That" for returning the World Frisbee Championship to where it once began and now rightfully belongs!
Hail the Flailing of Holy Saucers!

I wish i could have made it to the run this year. I ran 3 times and got second every time. I think my slowest time was just over 20 minutes. My best being 18:42. Maybe I will have to try for next year!
