Dedicated to the memory of:

Marjorie Vigneau
Albert Stridfelt
James Cole
Dexter Tiefenthal
Dan Erickson
Paul Kjeldsen

Friends are welcome to post a message of remembrance, and you are welcome to post additional names. I just want to mention about two of these individuals.

Albert Stridfelt was a resident at Still Waters for a while. He had been the lightkeeper at the Eagle Harbor Lighthouse. A likeable, outgoing man, Albert would always tell me I was "top shelf" whenever doing any favor. Albert passed away earlier this month. You can see a bit of Albert's life late next month, when the Keweenaw County Historical Society holds its open house at the Eagle Harbor Light on Saturday, July 29.

Paul Kjeldsen played a role which effects every person viewing this page... or any other page on Pasty Central, for that matter. Paul was a co-founder of one of the first Internet services in Upper Michigan. Back in May of 1996, I woke up one morning with the idea to seek a domain name of "pasty.com"... but I hadn't the slightest idea of how to go about it. I called Paul and asked if he would register "pasty.com" for Still Waters Elders Home, not really sure what we would do with it. Paul Kjeldsen registered pasty.com and arranged for us to start adding content. It took on a life of its own, and now in its sixth year, "Pasty Central" continues to grow. Paul died after a plane crash last week.

Both of these men had a connection to Lake Superior. Albert maintained the lighthouse and Paul loved to sail. I think they would both be pleased with the afterglow of sunset which Dan Urbanski provided for this month's In Memory.

What a perfect shot of God's painting. Thank you Dan for the photo. What wonderful men you have played tribute to. I would like to remember my younger brother and sister. Bob was called home a year and a half ago, and Sue 10 years before him. Our family knows they are in his loving care, but it is hard when Bob has 2 young boys. Upper Michigan always leaves me at peace. This photo proves it. May all out there have a wonderful 4th of July. BE SAFE!!!!!!!!!!

My husband was impressed by the beauty of the peaceful sunset photo. He could not believe that Lake Superior could ever be that calm. Please confirm the location of the photo, so I can make him into a believer. Thanks!

William Henry LaBeau,This picture reminds me of him. I remember when I was a little girl he used to take me fishing, he loved to fish. Alot were confused by his actions but he was a good man. On hot summer days when my siblings and I were at home with our parents at work, he would drive out and pick us up so we could go swimming. He would sit on the swing and watch us swim while grandma would make us pbj and lemonade. I miss my grandfather, thank you for the wonderful memory.

When I'm on my way back to da UP from Trolland and get my first glimpse of da Big Mac bridge it always gives me a thrill. After I cross the bridge and pay the toll it's like being home again. :o) Us Yoopers have a big beautiful back
yard!! Like Ronnie above says, "Dere ain't no udder place like it." Dis kai says, "Amen!"

Gaileve,

The photo was taken at the mouth of the Big
Iron River near the Porcupine Mountains in
Silver City, Michigan.

A group of friends and I were enjoying a beach
fire that evening.

I grew up on Lake Superior, and my dad had a 24 ft. Chris-Craft. We spent a lot of time out on the late, in all kinds of different weather. The one day that really stands out, we were coming back into Ontonagon after fishing off of Silver City. Lake Superior was like glass! There was not a ripple or a swell to be seen. We were able to let the boat go wide open. That's not something you can do on Lake Superior very often, but we did from Silver City to Ontonagon. I think I remember that day so well because it was so unusual.

The view in the picture reminds me of my back yard a perfect end to a beautiful day of walking the beach and collecting beach glass, which I make Unique items please feel free to view my homepage.
http://hometown.aol.com/walkingwolflady/myhomepage/business.html
I used to walk the beach with my best friend my wolf Sheba, sadly she passed away on 2/24/02.I was blessed to have her for almost 15yrs.Now I must go and walk my beaches alone and yet I know she is with me in Spirit,my heart is heavy but I know she is in a better place as her body grew old her mind was young, walking the beaches and playing in the water with her were the best times,I am called the Wolf_Lady as some like to say or the Ghost lady.I have to chuckle a little with that saying,as I moved up here from the Kalamazoo area (Lawton) going on 3yrs. when I started walking the beach with Sheba I would not only walk the shoreline but would disappear into the woods,so the ghost lady became my name as well..I would walk the beach all year round until the snow was too deep to walk.
I now wonder what some will say when I walk alone,oh well....I am sure it will be interesting,
So now I wait until the snow disappears and walk the beaches alone still collecting as the Lake waits for me to find my treasures to bring Lake Superior to you close to your heart....Sheba my girl....walk,run,lay in the sun, swim forever in a day,and then sit by the campfire at nite with me always..Sing your song girl....I was your guardian and now you will be my wolf spirit to others an Angel to watch over me always....Mom misses you "FLUFFY".....
