Seneca Lake seems to jump out at me....But, it's been quite a while since I fished any of the areas dams...

Not sure if that's an old or new picture but it could be Karl Heikkila?

By jeff, MN on Tuesday, May 15, 2001 - 10:15 pm:

My Jeopardy first-impulse guess is UPPCO's Victoria Dam on the Ontonagon river. Not far from the "Copper boulder" sign.

Steel dam near Freda? Background looks more like Seneca Lake though.

By walt, ohio on Wednesday, May 16, 2001 - 07:34 am:

Victoria gets my vote, it was my first impression also. Plus it makes sense, because when I visit Old Victoria a stop at the dam is automatic since it's only minutes away, and with Daryl taking the photo...

Looks like Seneca lake to me. Don't know the young fisherman, been gone too long.

By John, Chicago on Wednesday, May 16, 2001 - 08:53 am:

My guess would be Seneca lake, and is it the webmasters daughter who got married earlier this year who is fishing?

By Carl & Carol Hartland & Ontonagon on Wednesday, May 16, 2001 - 09:45 am:

Victoria Dam....one of the most beautiful places on earth, in our humble opinion (Southeast Alaska notwithstanding). We're new to Ontonagon. Does anyone know what kind of fish are likely to be found at Victoria? We now have a fishing pole, so that's the first step. The pole doesn't seem to "work" out of front door on Lake Superior, so maybe we'll try Victoria. Thanks.

Sure looks like Victoria to me...been there many times and it is a beautiful spot.

What's keeping up the tree to the right of the young man? It looks like it's been more than half chewed through!

And the answer is... Victoria Dam. The tree looks like it's about ready to fall, probably a beaver. Thanks for all of your guesses. Most of you were really close. This shot was taken right next to the Copper Bolder sign that states that the Copper Bolder is now in the Smithsonian. Daryl
