This afternoon Paul Roberts, the Northwoods Nomad, came to our door to report Eagle River Falls was about to wash the town away. I had just been online reading Keweenaw Issues, where another Paul (from Eagle River) reported that part of the dam had been washed away.

Jonathan and I popped over to the bridge, where quite a crowd had gathered, in spite of the rain. A rare chance to get a shot of the Pasty Cameraman himself in action... and his shot of the raging rapids.

Long ago, in a season far away, the boy and I snapped another cam shot on this bridge... the only shot I can recall where we both appeared together.

Snow angels
Who knows? Maybe one of these days we'll catch Dan Urbanski and Steve Brimm in a kayak or dog sled race. They had a couple of great shots this week (see Monday and Wednesday). And thanks also to Peggy Reimer for her seasonal magic on Thursday.

After all these years, we're still having fun here in the land of pasties.

Nice Picture, about 8 summers ago, me and my Great Aunt climbed the falls, it flowing as fast as that, but it was still a great time!

Y'know, Charlie, Steve and I would have probably
kayaked right down that little creek of yours
today if I didn't have to photograph a wedding!

That sure is an impressive runoff.

WHOO-EEEE!
Now that's what I call BIRCHBARK WATER!

Wish I could witness this event. Eagle River Falls has always been a favorite for me. In the long, long ago, a spring ritual was to start out at the Ripley Falls, progress to the Hungarian Falls, the Douglas Houghton Falls, and up the peninsula to appreciate the beauty that the long winter afforded in the melting streams.
