We zipped up to the UP and back again yesterday and couldn't resist stopping to see Twin Lakes right at sunset. I tried to find the same spot in the parking lot to stand to take a view from the same angle as last fall -- but didn't get it quite right-- actually, I couldn't even exactly find the parking lot -- the snow still had the upper hand.

Spring IS on the way: the sap "buckets" were a sure sign.

Hey Peggy - come back in July and complete the set :o)

Might not be the same exact spot, Peggy, but enough to bring back memories of summers at Twin Lakes for Girl Scout day camps. Among other things I learned there (and on the bus trips back and forth from Houghton--in the 50's): How to dive--how to clean toilets--that was the GS's job during day camps--and how to savor a precious Muskateers bar (money was tight in those days) all the way home on the bus.

As a child we didn't get out of Covington much further than L'Anse on Fri. night so as an adult I have tried to go to all the places I missed and on one of my exploring drives I found this place you pictured so well--Twin Lakes! Shhh....don't tell anyone so it doesn't get crowded! My goal is a Twin Lake camping trip for at least 2 nights on one of my week trips packed with frantic sightseeing forays that must include Houghton/Hancock, Copper Harbor, pasty, Norway Lake and berry picking.

OK, where is Norway lake? I'll tell you where Goose Lake is-one of my favorite places on earth.

Great to see the twin lakes. Vacationed there
a few years ago. Love the scenery in the UP.
My dad was born in the UP, but grew up in
Ohio. Love to see ALL of the pictures from "up
there". Thanks!!

Been a long, long time since I was at Twin Lakes.
My uncle George Maki had an old school bus fixed
up into a camp that was parked close to the shore.
This was back in the mid to late 40s. An aunt had
made Swiss steak for supper, oh man! I was maybe 7
or 8 yrs old. Uncle Hubert took us for a boat ride later and told us "If this thing runs out of gas, someone will have to get out and walk for some." Luckily, it didn't. :-)

To R Somero in CA; Norway Lake is 'bout half-way
between Ralph and Felch Mountain. It's a beautiful little lake.
