Last week featured scenes from April of 1909, and history is trying to repeat. Winter almost returned over the past few days. But to look out my office window here at Still Waters in Calumet - you would think it is the first of June, except for the snow mountains still around the edges of the lot. A caller yesterday (on our toll free pasty order line) asked if we still had any snow - and I observed that it was still over my head in places.

That's quite a mountain of snow. I wonder where it all went when it melted. Speaking of melting, now would be an ideal time to view some of the many waterfalls in da area......I was on a back street in Tamarack today and I thought I could hear the Hungarian roaring half a mile away.

I used to love those Hungarian Falls in the spring. They really are pretty impressive. Not bad for a 'little' Hungarian Creek otherwise, hey?

Daddy Falls would be nice to see here. :o) :-)

I remember visiting my grandma many winters in the U.P. She lived in Laurium, and I still remember sleding on hills just like that at the end of Hecla St. And to those of you who are wondering....I visited her one summer around the forth of July and walked to these black dirt hills that where in the same spot only to discover that it was STILL THE SNOW MOUNDS melting away...

My wife and I have decided we can wait no longer. We are going to hop in the truck next Thursday morning at 0430 and head up to Five Mile Point. The picture of this snow plow makes me wonder if we are going to be able to get into our driveway. Does anyone know how much snow might still exist out by the Sand Hills Lighthouse? Will I just have to be concerned about the bank from the snow plow or will there be too much snow in the entire driveway? Any response is appreciated. Thanks.
