Looking out a hallway window between Walker and the Rosa center. Doesn't look like much could grow in the concrete alley between the two buildings. The new Rosa center (building on the left) covers the old mud volleyball field. Can anyone fill us in on the history of Walker?

If you are among the many MTU Alumni who frequent the Pasty Cam, you probably have some vivid memories of your last month at da' Tech. That's where Jonathan is now, wraping up about 7 years of undergraduate studies. During the last half of those years he has carried a camera on the daily trek between Eagle River and Houghton, and provided hundreds of the shots on this website, from all seasons... some beautiful, some off-the-wall... each an interesting glimpse of life in the U.P.

The Walker Building was originally the Sherman Gymnasium, which I believe was built to replace the old gym (now the ROTC Center). I'm not sure when Sherman was replaced by the SDC, but I'd be willing to bet someone else out there in cyberland knows.

Congratulations, CHARLIE! -- How proud and thrilled you must be at this point over your son's achievement. Thank you both for all the pix & commentary.

When I went to TECH back in the sixties, the only field I remember was the one where the Canadians(the Hockey Team) lived in the little shacks. in the spring it was real muddy there. It was on the left as you went out of town going toward Chassel.
This may be where the building above is??

Jonathon,

Congradulations on graduating! Seven yrs sounds just about right for finishing at Tech. I spent six yrs there, left with one class left to finish and finally received my diploma nine yrs after I started. Feels good when its over though. thanks for the pictures.
