Before I could get this shot uploaded, much of the shoreline ice/snow had broken up because of fierce winds across the Keweenaw today. The past 2 weeks have certainly seen profound change in weather conditions.

I called Blizzard Corporation this week... you know, the folks who make the snow plows... and their "message on hold" had a memorable phrase: "It has been said there are only two seasons in the U.P. - 9 months of winter, and 3 months of poor sledding."

Looks like sledding may be over for the time being.

Such a serene feeling I get from this photo.
Wish I was there just watching that sun go down and feel the cold creep slowly down my neck.

Have been here in Texas and have really enjoyed seeing all the snow pictures and showing them to people here. They don't know how we get around in all that snow. Especially liked today's picture, and the fact that winter is finally over.

BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
Lived in nothern part of michigan most of my life
I live in Arizona now and the weather is mighty fine in winter..We can look to the Mt. to see the snow and still be in 60 s weather here on desert.
No more boots no more scarves no more mittens and big coats..IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIILIKE IT!!
But i have to say Michigan is one of the most pertty states besides Arizona..

As a displaced Yooper living in the Saginaw Valley, I love this site, although it does make me homesick at times!!

This shot made me remember the sounds the ice makes just before it breaks up - I could almost hear the plaintive moaning, like the lake is trying to set itself free.
