The animals have been a little strange lately. It seems they all want to come into our house, or at least look in. Yesterday a racoon came right up to the back door and stared through the glass at our dog Casey. A small squirrel (we call Casey's "squirrel-friend") actually put its nose against the pane, seeming to say, "let me in!". Sure drove the dog wild.

This morning we saw this young deer nestled in next to our steps and foundation. When I stepped outside, I counted 43 deer around our house. It felt like being in a Hitchcock movie.

Many more days like today, and the snow will disappear, and so will the deer - back into the woods for summer vacation.

Thank you for pictures that bring the country into my city home. Some day I will live where there are animals again. Thanks for the hope.

I couldnt agree with you more Eric. One more would be great! We need 3 inches and we'll hit 300 so one more would be most excellant!

That fawn is looking a little scrawny in the haunches. Needs grass, not more snow!

Charlie, you have a dog Casey, we have a cat, Henry. A raccoon walked up to our low dining room window and stared right at Henry. Boy, was his tail swishing back and forth. Squirrels regularly torture the cat by prancing back and forht before the windows and up and down the trees which are in touching space of the windows. We get mallards every morning for breakfast and dinner. They are fun to watch, the males are really fighting over the females, running into each other like bulls. We don't live in the UP. We live in Lombard, IL, just west of Chicago.

Oooo, that's a nice trick with the smaller photo on the page before this! I thought I was seeing things this morning.

Keep up the great work - this site keeps me happy in between U.P. visits. And thanks for the pictures of Marquette, home of my alma mater....I sure miss it there.

I love your web site. I've never been to Michigan--makes me want to go. I live in Southeast Texas so I'm wondering what the white stuff on the ground is. lol Y'all need to come on down and spend the winter with us next year.
