Our memorial names this month includes a long-time resident of Still Waters whom I had come to know and love, Dorothy Szymanski. Because of failing health recently, Dorothy had moved where she could receive more advanced care, so we had already said our good-byes. But still I was saddened yesterday to hear of her passing.

Dorothy was a real encourager. She would always take an interest in our activities around the Home here at Still Waters. Over the years, we have put in some long hours with this "Pasty" project, and on more than one occasion, seeing me working late into the evening, she would say, "Why don't you just take the rest of the day off?"

Thanks, Dorothy. I think I will.

You know, sometimes when elderly people get involved in wonderful projects, they seem to thrive and bring joy to everyone's life. We had such a woman who was a volunteer at one of the hospitals I used to work at. She was 82 when I was there, and probably lived into her 90s. She was always on the job and such a help to everyone and such spirit! I suspect that that is the same at Still Waters with your "Pasty" project.

I'm always grateful when I come into contact with people like Dorthy. They are such an encouragement to me and it makes life just a little easier and more livable.

Long live the pasty cam. I enjoyed the pictures so much. Printed many of them. As a 'gander living in Mississippi, all that snow was a site for sore eyes.
