In the background of this shot you can see some dirty snow mountains by the Houghton Shopko. James MacCarthy brought his mom Vania all the way from the British Isles, to visit with her family in Pelkie and see her friends at Pasty Central. Along with Aunt Jodi and Grandpa Manning, we got together at Perkins, and caught up on old times. Vania and her sister and brothers have been workers in the past at Gitche Gumee.

As sunny and warm as it is today in the Copper Country, it won't be long until that dingy snow gives way to grass and flowers.

"Oh my goodness", as one of my little grandaughters likes to say...there is a Perkins now? I have been gone far too long. I left in 1979 and heard since that there are some other fast food places as well.
