You'll pass this spot on the highway from Gay to LacLabelle (on your way to Lac LaBelle Lodge and Restaurant, of course), also on the way to Mt. Bohemia. Just down the road is the residence of Dor and John Kaleita, of "HearYe" fame (a local newsletter). Here's a couple of shots outside their window: the first is Gull Rock in the distance, and then their van, which has been parked all winter. Wonder where the driveway went?

I just love seeing shots of God's country. It makes me so happy to be living here and to know that that is pretty much in my backyard (well kind of)

Forget about the driveway... it will soon be "Where's the roof?"if we get any more snow. I took this picture on 8th Street in Calumet March first.

I am so homesick....there is no place like home thats for sure,here in East Lansing it is a whole different world and we have no snow at all on the gound...what a difference 9 hours south makes.
But I am hoping to be home to visit really soon...I am kinda waiting for a lull in all the snow...Hopefully springtime.
~WOW~and I really can't get over how much snow you have has this year!!!! Has this winter broken any recoerd yet~Cause I don't remember seeing it this bad in a while!!!!
Anyone with travel suggestions e-mail me I would love to hear from all of the fellow "yoopers" who are surviving this winter...and driving through all the snow filled streets!!

as the twig is bent, so shall it grow

Hey, myself, wife, and boyga were doin' the sunday drive, and stopped exactly at the spot where the top pic was taken, looking across Bete Gris. I recall two sets of footprints leaving the road, going onto the shoreline. Same day ? ( sunday, 2/18) It was a windy, cold day, but sunny, beautiful. A day or two like that each winter keeps ya from taking hostages. As a side, lots of the deer look great yet.

How did the mountain become bare? Does anyone know? I heard they logged there a number of years ago, but I didn't realize the trees hadn't grown back, as yet. Sure is a wide swath of white there. I imagine the folk on the shore must have been able to see the trees falling, eh?
I'm curious about the crescent patch. E-mail me if you know have the answer.
