This has been a delightful week for my email "inbox"... lot's of great variety from around the U.P. Dan Urbanski has captured 3 classic scenes (also see Sunday and Tuesday), and this one makes me thirsty.

I'll let you in on a little secret: my wife and I have been in the sunny south all week (and I don't mean South Range). As I write these words, it's about 70° outside on the patio here in Montgomery, Alabama. Often I've seen notes in Past-E-Mail about being homesick for the U.P... While it has been a pleasant visit, with lots of southern hospitality, we've only been away a few days, and can hardly wait to get back to the northwoods, the land of snow and pasties.

Being away has given me a greater appreciation for contributors to the Pasty Cam. (thanks Dan, Steve, Daryl, Jonathan, Doug, Jim, Al, Josh, and EVERYBODY). Do you have a glimpse of life in the U.P. you would like to share? My e-mailbox would love to hear from you: chopper@pasty.com

DA BOND FALLS ARE NOT TOO FAR SOUTH OF DA BRUCE CROSSING, MI LOCATION. BRUCE CROSSING IS SOMEWHAT SOUTH OF HOUGHTON OR TAKE A LEFT AT THE STOPLIGHT IN HOUGHTON AND DRIVE 50 MILES WITH ANOTHER LEFT IN THEIR SOMEWHERE BEFORE YOU COME TO ONTANOGAN.

OK EH....I was also wondering where Da Bond Falls was EH. I see from Da comment above its near Bruce's Crossing but on what river? I go through Bruce's Crossing on 45 from Watersmeet all the time while heading up to Lake Linden. We like to visit the casino dere at Da Watersmeet Place.

Bond falls is actually in Paulding. It's a blink and you miss it town. Go east on the intersecton of M-45, and the only gas station in town, I don't know the actual name of the road the falls are on. Anybody out there know? Just a short drive to the falls. The wife and I had our engagement picture taken there. Sweet place!! Dan, do they have a path cleared to the falls? Or is it snowshoe country?

Take it easy driving to Da Bond Falls, not to fly by the turn-off. Da signage is not too prominent when driving up from Chicago-land. But the gas station mentioned above is a good place to turn around. Great picture as always, keep 'em coming, eh.

The Bond Falls Flowage was formed by damming the Ontonagon River
Middle Branch. The dam is also home to a hydro-electric generator operated
by the Upper Penninsula Electric Co.

Bond Falls consists of a series of waterfalls ranging in drop from 1-2 feet to
almost 50 feet and come in several flavors, from straight down to hump back
formation. They are among the prettiest waterfalls in the Upper Penninsula of
Michigan.

Directions: Take U.S. 45 to Pailding, Michigan and turn east onto Forest
Road 5350. Bond Falls park is about 4-5 miles to the east. Be sure to check
out the Paulding Earth Light display. It is a natural light show, source
unknown, that occurs nightly, rain or shine, near Paulding MI.

the beauty is absolutley magnifient beyond mere words to describe. this is another keeper. every time i almost believe you can't find anything to match and/or surpass your past photos, you go and do it once more again. your site is a daily visit for me. looked forward to each day with great expectation. You're right....if you blink, you miss the turn. My Dad and I stopped here last summer and it's absolutely gorgeous. We sat at a picnic table near the river, ate pasties, and then did the hike down to the bottom, enjoying beautiful scenery all along the way. A MUST see for everyone who's in that area! I wish I had known about it years ago.

My dad always took us to Bond Falls so have fond memories. This past summer while visting my family in Ontonagon, my sister and I returned. Even more beautiful! Also, don't miss the Macinac Island Fudge ice cream cones at the little shop there.

Bond falls are just one of the natural wonders in the UP. Not hard to find....however when in Paulding visiting the falls, select the afternoon to do so. For when your visit is complete it would only be appropriate for you to ask one of the locals how to find the Paulding Lights. This is the icing on the cake to a wonderful day trip and one to keep you thinking......???? Give them a try and see if you can decide....Is it is Real?

I grew up in Trout Creek which is near Bond Falls. It is on the Middle Branch of the Ontonagon River. You can also get to Bond Falls from M-28 near there. The road crosses 1 mile west of the blinker light in town and winds through the woods for several miles. It is very scenic; but be on the lookout for deer. Agate Falls (on M 28; 5 miles West of Trout Creek) is also on the same river, and just as beautiful. Both are a must see when traveling in the western end of the U.P.

I grew up in Ewen and my Grandpa worked at the falls before he passed away. He lived in the big house on the hill in Paulding. I miss Bond Falls, keep those pictures coming. I save every one on my computer, wonderful memories!

Just returned from a fishing and camping trip on the Bond Falls Flowage. Hadn't been there in 10 years. It is the most beautiful place I know of. And the fishing is just great. Beautiful picture.

Bond Falls is on Calderwood Road east of Paulding. If you continue further on the road you'll come to "Da Flowage"' a great place for a sandwich and a beer. I was just there last Saturday night.

I made six trips to Bond Falls/Trout Creek last year. The fishing and hunting was great. I can't wait to go back, I'm headed that way Friday. For the hunting and fishing report, stop and see Randy at "Da Flowage". He'll hook you up with a good meal and give you the info you need. I love that area.

I rememeber 38 years ago when we had to literally chop a way in to make our own camp site on Bond Lake. We'd camp there every year and walk down to the falls. It was so peaceful and beautiful. Several of our family members still go up every year and camp, although now it's become so popular and commercialized the camp sites are set up for you. :-) Oh yes, the ice cream cones at the corner store on US45 and Forest Road in Paulding, heading back in towards the falls ... they were awesome. Oh... the memories!

My family has had a cabin here ever since i can remember...i have so many memories on this lake, and at the falls, it is by far my favorite place to be. I think you"ll like it too, but tell the kids on the jet skis to stop chasing our loons, they get tired and drown. the paulding light is pretty cool too, its about 20 minutes south of there.
