Did you know it's just a few miles from Phoenix to Delaware? We're not speaking of Arizona and out east, but instead the heart of the Keweenaw Peninsula. Every day when I drive home from Pasty Central (in Calumet) I turn left at Phoenix, for our home in Eagle River. But if you continue straight ahead, half-way up to Copper Harbor you'll discover Delaware, home of the fascinating Delaware Mine. More than a hundred years ago it was also home to the crews who worked the mine, and this is one of the houses where they lived.

Our thanks to Doug Smith for a couple of great "Pasty Cam" shots this week. In fact, we had several requests for his Wilderness trail shot last Sunday, we decided to make it "Wallpaper of the Week" (WOW)... although we may have to have 2 WOW's, based on the feedback to yesterday's remarkable shot by Steve Brimm. This is more than I can take. I want to be up there so bad and I have to wait 6 more months. Cruel and inhuman treatment to have to look at these pictures. Thanks for the torment and give me more.

This shot was taken of my uncle's house at Deleware over 25 years ago. I found it in some old photographs my mother had given to me a long time ago and decided to scan it to send to Charlie. The house has since collapsed, and all that is left now, is a pile of broken boards and rubble.
