Beautiful pic, as usual . Being from around there, I may have skiied and/or trod there too - is that near Mackinaw proper, or perhaps down towards Sturgeon Bay?

p.s. As I write this the weather in eastern PA is delightful- we're up to about 13" and still going!

This shot was taken January 20th near Waugoshance Point in Wilderness State Park, where a group of us have been spending a weekend every January for nearly the past 20 years in one of the rustic cabins there. Although it had to be 15 below with the wind biting though our jackets, many a beautiful day, and moon lit night, we have spent discovering the true natural beauty of the area.

Can you hear the ice creak and groan?

By Toivo on Tuesday, February 6, 2001 - 09:20 am:

No, Kate, I think that's your power supply about to give out.

Does it make anyone else nervous walking, skiing or snowshoeing out on the big lakes, wondering if the section you are on will break away and you'll be left floating on your own ice island?

By Paul, Hancock, MI on Thursday, February 8, 2001 - 06:06 pm:

Yes Cathy I am very nervous about the ice breaking. That's why I don't go out on it much. I actually did go through the ice last weekend. Fortunatly I was only four feet from shore but it was still an experience that I don't want to go through again.

Where is the Leggs INN, HOURS and DAYS OPEN so I can go there. Do not keep this secret to yourself. I hear it is a polish restaurant which I die for. Help Sandy

Nice to see the "other" Lake on Pasty.com. My first breath of life was on the shore of Lake Michigan and grew up on Lake Superior and now live back on Lake Michgan in my "later life".....love em both!!! They are so different........but equally "Great".
