You probably have driven past this sign. It may have looked quite different (green grass, gentle breeze off the Lake, warm sunshine). Here's a hint: it's not in the Copper Country. Any ideas?

Our thanks to Nancy Nelson for kicking off another week of the Pasty Cam with a view which truly reflects the way it looks this morning here in the U.P.

By Pat, MI on Sunday, January 14, 2001 - 12:04 pm:

My first thought is along US2 by the Mackinac Bridge

ch: Good guess... but that would be Lake Michigan :o)

By Mary, Michigan on Sunday, January 14, 2001 - 12:54 pm:

George guesses along M-28 Lake Superior, just east of Munising.

By Alabama on Sunday, January 14, 2001 - 01:04 pm:

That was going to be my guess too George !!!

By Bill and Gwen MN on Sunday, January 14, 2001 - 02:27 pm:

Our guess would be by Baraga along US41?

By Steve Brunette, WA on Sunday, January 14, 2001 - 02:57 pm:

Brunette Park, north of Gay.

By SHERYL HAURING, WI on Sunday, January 14, 2001 - 03:45 pm:

COULD THIS BE BETTE GRISE??

By Jeff, MO on Sunday, January 14, 2001 - 05:31 pm:

I agree with Bill & Gwenn. North of the Father Baraga statue looking toward L'anse.

By Scott , WI on Sunday, January 14, 2001 - 05:45 pm:

I'll guess Ontonagon because the sign looks familiar and it's a place where I like to be.

By Carole, Mi. on Sunday, January 14, 2001 - 07:04 pm:

My guess would be the beach across the road from Baraga State Park campground.

By Judy, MI on Sunday, January 14, 2001 - 07:18 pm:

I guess North of Bishop Baraga.

By susan,va on Sunday, January 14, 2001 - 07:50 pm:

I guess near Marquette

By Rose - Channahon,IL on Sunday, January 14, 2001 - 08:49 pm:

How about across the highway (US 41) from the Baraga State Park Campground? A little farther north from there you can have a great meal at Carla's Lakeshore Inn!

By Eric Bastian on Sunday, January 14, 2001 - 09:18 pm:

i would like to add that many of these people are CLUELESS, all of your guesses are not in the copper country! so its gotta be pretty far up North.

By Carol, Missouri on Sunday, January 14, 2001 - 09:59 pm:

Near Big Bay Michigan

By Whitey Apple on Sunday, January 14, 2001 - 10:22 pm:

Florida? On a good day?

By Peter, MD on Sunday, January 14, 2001 - 10:27 pm:

I have to go with fellow Easterner (Susan, Va.) and say just east of Marquette.

By Sam on Sunday, January 14, 2001 - 11:01 pm:

The Photographer lives in Wisconsin, could that be a hint ?

By Marci, MA on Monday, January 15, 2001 - 01:10 am:

Did that order not to park pertain to NMU students?

By Don Brulla on Monday, January 15, 2001 - 02:13 am:

how about old lake shore by calumet

By Paul, MI on Monday, January 15, 2001 - 07:26 am:

It's between Marquette and Escanaba.

By Dan in Fenton, MI on Monday, January 15, 2001 - 07:45 am:

Au Train.

By Scott Schnau, Michigan on Monday, January 15, 2001 - 07:56 am:

I believe that the sign is located at the Calumet Water Works.

By Relic on Monday, January 15, 2001 - 07:59 am:

Paul, Whew !!!!!!!!!!

By Florida on Monday, January 15, 2001 - 09:06 am:

Is it on that stretch of beach between Munising and US41?

By Chris Kelly, Chicago on Monday, January 15, 2001 - 12:34 pm:

Okay, here's one way off ... The Dunes State Park in Indiana.

By Pam from Madison Heights on Monday, January 15, 2001 - 05:08 pm:

I agree with Dan from Fenton, Au Train Bay. That is my favorite part of the drive from here to the Keewenaw.

By Tom Cat Wisconsin on Monday, January 15, 2001 - 06:46 pm:

It looks like Baraga.

By MKW -MI on Monday, January 15, 2001 - 07:21 pm:

Could be White City Beach near Jacobsville

By Shirley, Ca. on Monday, January 15, 2001 - 08:46 pm:

It looks like a place I went camping once on Lake superior.

By Mike Bezotte, Wisconsin on Monday, January 15, 2001 - 09:06 pm:

Somewhere between Menomonee and Escanaba

By Deb, Belleville, MI on Monday, January 15, 2001 - 09:08 pm:

I beleive it is between Gay and Lac La Belle, north of Brunette Park. Maybe Point Isabella or Oliver Bay.

By Nancy Nelson, WI on Monday, January 15, 2001 - 10:43 pm:

So much fun to see that my picture made people think of so many special places. How much we all love our beautiful Lake Superior. I, too, love the beach at AuTrain, and had many and many a picnic at Baraga when I was a youngster (even in the winter), but this shot was taken in the parking lot of the Marquette Visitor's Center in south Marquette--10 AM Sunday, Jan. 7. Not the Copper Country, but still Yooper territory, with plenty of wonderful pasties available.

By Frank Farr Germany on Tuesday, January 16, 2001 - 05:09 am:

I like snow, but not here in Germany - FM Michigander.

By Dan in Fenton, MI on Tuesday, January 16, 2001 - 07:59 am:

Thank you Nancy. Now we can finally get some sleep:)

By Ken - MI on Tuesday, January 16, 2001 - 10:11 pm:

Glad to find out where it is, I also thought that it was between Esky and Menominee near Fuller Park.

By Margaret,TX on Thursday, January 18, 2001 - 11:02 pm:

Makes the 20.5 inches here in TX look a little meager.

By Kevin Carpenter on Friday, January 19, 2001 - 08:42 pm:

Looks like the mouth of the AuTrain River between Marquette and Munising.

By Brother, CT on Saturday, January 20, 2001 - 10:15 pm:

C'mon, tell the truth Nancy! You took that picture of Torch Lake last August!

By Nancy, WI on Saturday, February 3, 2001 - 11:12 pm:
