I was excited to give my new Olympus E-10 a whirl this weekend. It was a crystaline winter wonderland for skiers at the Porcupine Mountains, with rime ice on the trees at the top of the mountain. The ice needles were reportedly 1-1/2 inches long. I didn't get a picture of that because I don't have a lift ticket and had only enough energy to ascend half way up the hill. Next time I'll have to borrow one of the Park's snowmobiles, and frighten a few skiers with my lack of riding skill.

Happy New Year!

Wow that is alot of people on the lifts at the porkies. More empty lift seats than full ones that is for sure at Bohemia. Wonder why so many went to the porkies and not the premier hill in the midwest. I visited Bohemia, and the crowd was very sparce. Maybe thirty skiers on Sunday. Beautiful picture dan.

How'd they create all that cotton candy at the left of the picture? Winter bloom?

Question about Mt Bohemia. How in the world did they get trails cleared and lifts installed so quickly when it wasn't even approved until late in the year?

Susan:
They just did referendum or not, go ahead with the work. There all the locals will decide they can have the hill cause all of the work has been done.

I grew up in Michigan, and lived in the U.P. for a time.

I have now lived in Colorado for 22 years, but have yet to find anything here that could compete with U.P.

Although I am apart from you, my heart is with you.

The vote was not if the ski hill could be built it was if the area could become a resort with a lodges "on" the actual mountain.

Just wondering does anybody know if Mt. Bohemia has a website, if so what is there address?

What is the total snow fall difference ( if any ) between the Porkies and Bohemia?

By Danno, MI on Friday, April 13, 2001 - 12:25 am:

Crazy man Dick Sterken dislocated his shoulder sledding Bohemia before it was blessed with ski lifts.
