Oh yeah, even with all the snow on the ground here in the U.P., we still celebrate this day. After a long winter, we celebrate most anything! If I'm not mistaken, this couple has appeared on these pages before, except Frosty was much taller. Of course with this being the first day of spring, it stands to reason the snowman would be shrinking. Or is it possible our little tyttö has grown that much since December? David Roberts was the man behind the camera on both of these shots!

Happy Springtime all. Raining down here in Motown today. Guess my honey-do list will have to wait!!! Time for another cuppa joe.

By MK Howell, MI on Saturday, March 20, 2004 - 07:44 am:

Happy Spring! It's a good rainy "Spring" day for us Southerners to curl up and do nothing, while you Uppers "mold" the last bits of springs
into artwork.

Ahhhh....SPRING has SPRUNG!!! The wind is kicking up something fierce here in Baraga...with a strong wind advisory till tomorrow. Bring it on...it'll help melt the white stuff....if you can call it white anymore! I truly don't mind winter...it's just about 2 months too long tho! :-D

HAPPY SPRING TO EVERYONE!!!!

Hello Papa Dave from your little snowman maker. I miss you. See you and Grandma Bar at my birthday in April.XOXOXO Gabrielle

What a "surkea paikka". We have never seen this child looking like she does here, (poor and wretched), but she is always the best dressed, everthing matching, child. Of course, you cannot look like a beauty queen when out in the back yard making a snowman.

That is the cuttest! I enjoy looking at the photos day to day. It makes a good guessing game with the family. Keep up the good work.

Now THOSE are cute pix!

By Debbie, Il. on Saturday, March 20, 2004 - 12:38 pm:

Greetings from Northern Il. It's 52 degrees and my husband is washing my car in the garage (door open). Tomorrow low 30's. No snow around here and our snowfall to date is a whopping 17 inches. I think the first snowman could use a Stormy Kromer to cover up a bad hair day!!

By Louan-Elk Rapids MI on Saturday, March 20, 2004 - 01:20 pm:

Bad hair day but great attitude.

By Peggy, Florida on Saturday, March 20, 2004 - 02:03 pm:

Greetings from Florida. 80 degrees and sunny. I would rather be in the beautiful U.P.!!

By FRNash/PHX, AZ on Saturday, March 20, 2004 - 02:50 pm:

Yeah, spring is here... the smell of citrus blossoms in the air, the mocking bird aggressively establishing her territory in my back yard, the humming birds draining the feeder and dive bombing the mocking bird, the temperature pushing the century mark (forecast: 98° today & tomorrow -- about 18-20° above "normal for this date).

Who would NOT want to be in the ol' Copper Country instead? <sigh>

Debbie N.IL, I hope he shut the door for the rinse. :>) Might get the seat wet.
Very windy here in Cornell, too. Temp was 47 deg. at 11 am but now down to 35. HAUSKA KEVÄT JOKAINEN. (Happy Spring, Everyone.)

By Debbie on Saturday, March 20, 2004 - 04:44 pm:

To Ken and Mimi...I think my husband got the 'final rinse'! He won't learn though, he just started on his truck! The temps are dropping here too.

Hello to Armada and Richmond neighbors! from Russ over here near Adair!

By Great n on Sunday, March 21, 2004 - 08:43 am:

To Ahmeek Cliff Dweller,

The spring has sprung,
The grass has ris.
I wonder where the flowers is?
The bird is on the wing.
Now isn't that absurd?
I always thought the wing is on the bird!

We still have about 24 inches of snow on the level here in Menominee County - The UP's banana belt.

By Connie - Colorado on Sunday, March 21, 2004 - 03:14 pm:

Days are like summer here in Denver, well, like summer in the UP! Temps in the sixties and seventies. Got a good naked eye view of the illusive Mercury (special courier for the gods) in the western sky just after sundown. Look tonight, between Venus (bright as a flashlight) and where the sun went down. This is the best time of the year to see it. Use binoculars if your eyesight isn't as good as it once was! You still have another week or so.
