Ok, I admit that I'm taking some liberties here, by saying these four are skiing. The human subject does have a set of ski poles in his hands, so I figured that assumption could be made. If he expects those dogs to give him a pull, he better strap on his skis. This foursome can be found in Olivia Bartlett's Pasty Guest Gallery, where she says they're at the Tech trails. Not only am I wondering where Ryan's skis are, but where are his gloves and why doesn't he have that jacket zipped up?!

Good Morning everyone. Got a taste of the U.P. down here in Troll Land yesterday. Between 6-12" of snow. What a mess!!!! Took me an hour to go where it usually takes 15 minutes. People down here can't cope with the white stuff.

Hey!! What happened to my posting?

By Ron, Michigan on Thursday, January 15, 2004 - 07:18 am:

Oops!!! Now it's back!!! Sorry!!! I'm probably the first person to get the first three postings of the day!!!!!

It's not the amout of snow - but the volume of traffic - simular to when the "blackout" hit...

too many trolls

Still It look wonderful. Reminds me when I go to the UP in Feb. Lucky for me I only have to go a half mile to work and no main road.

An elderly gentleman in the town where I live walks using ski poles all the time. He told me he started using ski poles when he walked after one of his visits to Finland. Using the ski poles incorporates an upper body work out while walking.

I doubt it is a photoshop pic. It's clear that it is cold enough to get poor Brian's ears and cheeks red and "chilly"!

I do wish there was something we could do with all this traffic here in troll land. Waht a mess these past couple days! And then there's those that can't drive once there's 1/2 an inch of the white stuff on the roads. Go figure.

By JJ MI on Thursday, January 15, 2004 - 12:01 pm:

Still, unless you live in Bissbee AZ, or Downsville WI, one can't have the cake err Pasty, and drive in it too...

By MD Downstate, snowbound on Thursday, January 15, 2004 - 12:37 pm:

Just like a beagle, nose buried up to the eyeballs in snow, looking for the sent of whatever past that way in the last month. Only the nose knows!

By Dan, in flatlandersville, MI on Thursday, January 15, 2004 - 12:57 pm:

Ahh troll-land! I like seeing the dump trucks driving around with their plows - but they aren't using them. Just tons and tons of salt. Let's salt it away! Yeah, maybe if I close my eyes, the snow will just go away too. Yumm, driving down the freeways with clouds of salt dust and everyone's car looking horrible and the concrete and asphalt just crumbling away. Hey, tell me again why the roads here are in such bad shape?

I miss the UP and professional snow plows. I miss how it took Houghton 12 hours to clear 36" of snow, but it takes Detroit 36 days to clear 12" of snow.

Notice how the weather forecasts are different depending on where you live? Winter storm warning in Detroit = chance of flurries maybe enough to turn things "white". Winter storm warning in Houghton = get the yooper scooper out, it's gonna be 18" or more!

When I lived in Houston, TX back in the early eighties, it hailed one day. There was a thin layer of hail that had accumilated on the roads. They closed up shop at work and on the way home I saw several cars in the medians and some were overturned!!

New issue of Newsweek is waiting at the Rite Aid store for me!! Gotta go get it!!

To all of my Yooper friends ...
Did the dip into the Portage happen today? If so, hope cousin Dave (Holmbo) was as entertaining as he was in last years event.
Give us down state trolls an update please.

Watching the movie "Snow Day" brings back lots of memories as a kid waiting to see if school was closed due to a snowstorm, and then playing in it all day. Has anyone seen it? The movie is cute and funny. It must have been written by someone who grew up in snow country. Chevy Chase plays the local weatherman.

By Fran,Ga on Thursday, January 15, 2004 - 10:18 pm:

I bought Snow Day and I watch it every so often it was really funny. It does bring back a lot of snow memories and of course I love seeing all the snow!!

The bridge scene is pretty tonight.Looks like a good snow.
