The deer in the Copper Country are still moving around quite a bit. When the snow gets too deep to be moving around so much, they herd up in what's called deer yards. Checking out the Guest Gallery, I found a picture of one that's possibly on it's way to the deer yard. I wonder if it's a private one though, since the sign on the tree says: "No Trespassing - Private Property Looks like he's telling David Antikainen, "Go ahead, shoot me, I know it's only a camera!"

It is a 'spun sugar' Christmas morning (like in Christmas Story) here in Cadillac this morning! So pretty... I wish that little Prince or Princess was in my back yard this morning!

Used to go with my dad to the Misery Bay area...back in the early 60s...they were logging back there....
the deer trails were packed, so you could walk all over following them...
We used to see fairly large herds of deer...20 or more, running along the sides of hills and stuff...
very exciting.
and those little chocolate jelly beans all over the ground..yum, yum

That deer looks sleepy, as if it just woke up.
Probably headed to somebody's feeder.

I used to be an avid deer hunter. Couldn't shoot one now unless I was starving; I guess that's what old age has done to me. [especially after looking at a photo like this.]

Ahh, a healthy looking specimen indeed- hopefully one who will win the battle with Ol'Man Winter and provide a shutter bug with plenty of pictures or a hardy hunter with mucho venison, whichever it may be.
