Donn de Yampert found a different view of the Keweenaw Star than we're used to seeing on the Pasty Cam. She's all snowed in for a winter break, looks to be somewhere in Houghton, since I think that's U.S. 41 in the background just above the mast of the Star. The Pasty Cam editor before me, Charlie Hopper, and his family have enjoyed some good times aboard the Star in warmer weather:

Also our thanks to the crew of the Keweenaw Star for being Pasty.NET members and sponsors of this website. They are one of several hundred businesses and professional folks in the Copper Country and across the U.P. who help make the Pasty Cam possible. Yesterday's Daily Mining Gazette had quite a listing of supporters of this website.

From all of us here at Pasty Central to all of you... Happy New Year!

This website is is possibly the best in giving those of us who don't have the chance to enjoy the beautiful U.P. I hope everyone has a great New Year. If you have resolutions, do your best to stick to them. Me, the only one I have is to come home safe. The 4th ID is scheduled to be home by the beginning of April. I will be home in June. Can't wait see Mt. Brockway and the Keweenaw.

My brother, Duane Soumis, of Chassell, just got back from Iraq on December 22nd, (injured but ok)....right before Christmas...He was with the 101st and retired in October 2002...but then got a civil service position at Ft. Campbell and went to Iraq with the 101st Airborne when they deployed....
Happy New Year to all of you, and its a very joyous one for us with my brother at least home with his wife at Ft. Campbell....
Now for the rest of our troops to have a safe and hopefully a return home soon.

Happy New Year to everybody. My wife and I were married one year ago today here on Bumbletown Hill. We now live here on our hill. Our life has been very good since we moved back home to the Copper Country. We had a very beautiful spring and summer. We now are enjoying the winter and all it has to offer. Our life together here on our hill looks bright no matter which season of the year it is. We found each other here on Pasty.com 2 years ago. We both are so very happy.

Dear Yooper in Iraq,
God bless you and all of our servicemen. You are our most precious resource. I am enheartened by the wonderful young people in your generation and feel secure that our nation will continue to prosper when it is your turn to become the leaders.

I can just imagine how you feel about seeing the Keweenaw. I still get tears in my eyes when I go around the corner in Munising and see the Big Lake for the first time.

May God bless you and your fellow servicemen, and God's speed in returning to the Keweenaw.

All the best for 2004 and beyond.

Yooper in PA

Happy New Year to all. Especially to Yooper in Iraq and all of our deployed service members. Check out www.adoptaplatoon.org and consider "adopting" a deployed service member. Support them with letters and care packages, let them know we haven't forgotten about them!
