The Eagle Harbor lighthouse is always a good subject for photographers, no matter what the season. David Antikainen, one of the newest Guest Gallery owners snapped this one for us to celebrate the arrival of the first day of winter. This beacon is reassuring to many a boater looking for a safe harbor, but it's reassuring in a different way, to the travelers on M-26....a peaceful spot to watch the sunset, to gaze out over the water or to just breathe the fresh air!

I loved waking up to see this picture! My husband and I have vacationed a couple hundred feet from this lighthouse for over 10 years. We lived in Houghton for 16 years and moved to Wisconsin 4 years ago. It's great to see our lighthouse in winter, surrounded by snow. Merry Christmas to everyone in Eagle Harbor, especially everyone at St. Peter's by the Sea.

Beautiful shot! Stayed in the Lake Breeze, the blue building to the left, and looked out the window one morning to see a bald eagle sitting in the tree out on the point.

Just realized that my current wallpaper is of this same lighthouse from 10-8-03. Guess I will have to update the wallpaper for the new season!
By the way, I loved yesterday's history and great stories.

Happy Holidays!

Went to school in the 70's with a Sue Mello. Her family ran a store/post office in Eagle Harbor. Does anyone know if this family still runs this place?

I had to print this one. My plan is to send my sister in Utah (without a computer) pics from your site. We both miss the U.P. I love Tennessee, but only because the green reminds me of the U.P. and the people are friendly. This is really a pic that mkes a body get homesick for the U.P.

Just love this site--every day is a new delight. We had snow here in central Illinois but the warm weather took it away before Christmas! We love the drive up US 41 to Copper Harbor then back down MI 26 through Eagle Harbor, always with a pause to admire this lighthouse and the beauty of the area. We'll be making two or three trips this coming year to our vacation home near Aura.
