This little fellow wasn't really stirring in the house, he was actually discovered in a tool box (along with 4 or 5 of his close buddies), on a machine where Roger Kangas works. It's that time of year in the Copper Country when the little creatures seek warmer places to abide.

All kinds of children's story lines come to mind right now......"Hickory, dickory, dock, the mouse ran up the clock"........"My what big ears you have".....to name a few. But it reminds me of one story in particular called, "Doctor DeSoto", that I used to read to my boys!

How can this critter look so darned cute in this pic, but scurrying across my floor he is sooooo frightening?

By Jeffrey, TX on Tuesday, December 16, 2003 - 10:41 am:

This image reminds me of the winter occupants of a cardboard box that had frozen to the ground behind the house I grew up in in the Lower Penninsula. I fed the sweet little family crumbs from our kitchen all winter long. Towards the end of winter the mama seemed to be waiting for my daily delivery of goodies. Ah, I sure miss the magic of winter...

Ah ha! This little mouse reminds me of a film (comedy) "Mouse Hunt".

Great capture.

See....even the little "scary" mouse can show us that God doesn't create anything by mistake. He/She sure is cute....and my what big ears you have!! LOL

To all that shall know, I am from the beautiful village of Alpha. We are home to the biggest sub sandwiches in Iron County (probably the U.P.) Anyone care to back me up on that? It's called the 424 Store (the only one in town.) To BT TC, these flies here can sure drive you up the wall. I know God does put creatures here on this earth for a reason. Thinking about it now, what is the main purpose of a flies life? To bug humans, fly around poop, and repopulate?

Had to change my wallpaper from the chickadee to the mouse. He/she sure is cute. (But I don't care to have any living in my house.)

I can see why so many writers have made up stories around the cute little creatures. Our family has enjoyed a few of those stories, too.
Great picture!

Hi Yooper in Iraq. I agree with you on flies and also mosquitos and roaches. I can't see any use for the 3 of them.

Thanks to all of you guys and gals who are serving our country. Will keep you in my prayers.

We too had to change our wallpaper to this little creature, brave and fearless. God love him.

Hey yooper in Iraq; what is the main purpose of a human life? To kill flies, leave poop and repopulate? Just a thought.

This is just a terrific photo! It's so neat it's hard to believe it's even real. Great job!
All of us, mice like these included, are creatures seeking warmth and food to survive. We all share the struggle for survival, but these little guys have a much tougher time of it than most of us.

By Mt Trek Smith, Flint on Wednesday, December 17, 2003 - 07:20 pm:

Thanks Yooper HUN. Looking forward to seeing them bears in July, while camped on beautiful Lake Fanny Hooe/Copper Harbor.

we have one of this guys distant relatives living with us...his name is Henry...he is a beautiful hamster about the same coloring as this fellow...we love him very much...he has a lot of character like this little fellow!!!

By Dave H. Corryton TN. on Thursday, December 18, 2003 - 06:12 pm:

The mouse looks like a Tedy Bear Hamster.I had Fancy Hamster's & my cat's loved to play with them & didn't hurt them. Now I have 3 Ferret's & the cat's love them too.Ferret's make great pet's,smarter then any cat or dog, being a Primate, but please read a book about them befor you make one your pet.As Arnold said in his movie Kindergarden Cop "Ferret's never bite." and they don't.Well maybe a young one while playing until it gets to know better might.
