Looking at the Pasty Calendar time is starting to run out for fall clean-up duties in the U.P. Marsha Galbraith gives us a look at three possible jobs that need doing each fall...

1. Rake the leaves
2. Lie back in the lounge chair and watch the birds
3. Sit on the swing and check out the lake

For me, it's a toss-up between numbers two and three!

What a beautiful view!I have been down here in Miss since 1978,and the nearest water,is a resovoir, filled with the Big Muddy! On the other hand,it will be 80* today, and I can go sailing.Keep the Pic's coming!

No. 4. Have bon fire at nite, sit in lounge chair and listen to the lake

Beautiful picture, but it is Wednesday, November 12, not the 10th...that was on Monday!!

Thanks for pointing it out. Fixed!

I think you can combine steps 1 & 2 with:

1. Lie back in the lounge chair and watch the your kids/grandkids/neigborkids rake the leaves.

By me on Wednesday, November 12, 2003 - 11:17 am:

1. Grandkids rake leaves

2. Grandkids jump into leaves

3. Grandparents rake leaves

Is the 2004 Yooper Calendar the pasty.com calendar? If so, is there any way to find out which pictures made the calendar? (other than ordering it, of course)

By hubby from mich on Wednesday, November 12, 2003 - 01:37 pm:

The fire pit is 10 ft infront of the swing and with the right wind who cares about leaves anyway.

I love the pictures on Pasty.com. I've been in the Grand Rapids, MI area for years. We love it here, too, but I miss the U.P. I use most of the pictures for the background on my computer screen, and so many people have commented on how beautiful they are. I'm so glad a friend told me about this page. :)

L,
Yes, the 2004 Yooper Calendar IS the Pasty.com calendar. I myself am not aware of anywhere you can find out which pictures made the calendar, other than ordering it, but I can assure you there won't be a bad picture on it!

Correction: The current Yooper Calendar on the pasty order form is the traditional U.P. humor calendar, published by VSI in the Copper Country. Our color picture 2004 Pasty Cam calendar will be available after Thanksgiving.

If I knew how, I'd make this typeface green to show I'm green with envy for Marsha's beautiful UP spot!! Beautiful place, beautiful gallery, too.
I like "Mike's" No. 4- the bonfire at night, sitting in the chair and listening to the lake... Oh and the heck with the leaves!! Marsha, how much do you charge to rent the place?? (just wishful thinking)
Again, thanks to all who share such great pics of "God's Country".

Oh and did anyone with cable catch the nod to the Pasty on Food TV's "Food Finds"? They had an episode called "Comfort Foods" and featured Dobber's in Escanaba, and sure made ME hungry for pasties with the way they photographed them. They also took the time to allow an explanation of Yoopers and the UP. So Cool!! I've never been to Dobber's but it was a kick to have UP pasties featured. Bet there'll be even more tourists beating a path to the Yoop now! Good for all the Pasty shops and Pasty.com!

By David S. Wisconsin on Wednesday, November 12, 2003 - 06:22 pm:

Dobbers has some very good pasties...
I've never had the ones featured here, so can't compare, but Dobbers are good for store bought...of course none can compare to moms :)

By David S. Wisconsin on Wednesday, November 12, 2003 - 06:24 pm:

one more comment...
Every time I make it to the UP, I get pasties somewhere...
Dobbers in Iron Mountain or Escanaba,
sometimes Suomi cafe in Houghton...bought a few from the store/restaurant in Twin Lakes..(no offense, but last time I bought there, they weren't too good )...

Where can I buy the best in the Copper Country now ????

I see you guys are getting some snow, looks neat. How often does the Bridge Cam update? One more question, can anyone tell me how to get the live cam in Marq.?

By Mary Drew at Pasty Central on Wednesday, November 12, 2003 - 08:22 pm:

Steve Racine Wi,
Here's a link to a few Marquette cams, along with a few other places.

Thanks Mary, I'm from Calumet, but just wanted to see what's going on elsewhere. Thanks again.

Steve,

If you are referring to the downtown Mqt cam (Iron Bay Computer), here is the link. This cam overlooks Mqts lower harbor.
