Long before computers and websites, a log was just a log and login meant you'd be getting warm near the fire! This log is located at High Rock Point, east of Copper Harbor. Richard Barclay's gallery takes us where many folks have logged in and left their marks. I wonder if there's a pen chained there, like at the bank, so people can't borrow it?!

Reminds me, better get busy on the woodpile.

Looks as "well used" as the sign that was posted at the trailhead to the Estivant Pines. I remember passing through the Estivants and then crossing the Montreal on a log to get to the Leaning Giant. Ah,.. to be hiking in the Keweenaw today!

Speaking of the bank....this log is at drive thru height...so you just drive by on the way to High Rock and sign the log ledger! Sorry, bring your own pen. I've signed it annually, but as you can see a "new log" is started occasionally by sawing a slice off to expose the "next page of the ledger". Maybe if a person is collecting them, he/she could take a picture of the collection and display them all. It could make a neat display somewhere...

I like this log. It certainly would be neat to see all of them, if there is a collection. I wonder how far back they go? And thanks for the link to the solar activity info. I wonder if that explains why I can't get into my Yahoo email account?

Went by here on Aug.6,03 and yup signed in.
We were on our way back from High Rock Bay
and honest truth just leaned out the drivers
window to sign in. Had been geocaching the
Rocket Ranger cache with a fellow and his
sister who just might read this and post the
latitude and longitude of the log log for all to
find.

Someone took a chainsaw and cut two faces on the log just down from the end and there are signatures on the new faces now. Cutting off the tip would lose the new signatures, I don't believe that the tip has been cut off, yet! Saw that on the last trip to the missle site in early Oct.

THAT's where I've seen this pic before. I looked at some article or pics about the missle site. I thought I was losing it(big time)

Did a similar idea with a "sauna log" back in the 70's, when my Dad built a new sauna. Only took a few cut of logs from the woodpile before we had a perfect 'slab', so first time bathers could "log in".

It sure was a surprise to see this picture on the web. I made the trip to High Rock Bay on 07/03/03. I can see where my grandchildren signed the log. This picture brings back special memories of a special day. (I should send you a picture of my son-in-law's suburban covered with red mud.)
