A scene we never tire of in the Keweenaw - - the color show continues and is spiraling down quickly now. Thanks to Robert C. Wetton's artistic touch, we have a beautiful capture of foliage and aerial colors! With the wind and rains predicted for this week, it may be the last of the bright oranges, yellows and reds for this year.

Sure am glad I made it back in time to see the bursts of color this season. Now I need to catch up on the chores that were neglected while I was gallivanting around the globe. Much to do before Heikki Lunta does his dance.

I do believe that I'm first this time. Toivo very pretty picture you picked out. Reminds me of many times that I saw scenes like that in the U.P.

WHAT A DELIGHTFUL PICTURE. MY HUSBAND AND I WERE IN THE COPPER COUNTRY SEVERAL YEARS AGO FOR THE COLOR AND WHEN I BROUGHT THE PICTURES HOME SEVERAL PEOPLE SAID THEY LOOKED FAKE. IT WAS SO COLORFUL FROM BROCKWAY MOUNTAIN THAT IT LOOKED AS IF YOU TOOK A SPONGE AND DIPPED INTO THE COLORS AND JUST DABBED AWAY ON THE PICTURE. THE YELLOWS ON THE MANDAN ROAD WERE SO BRIGHT THEY ALMOST HURT THE EYES. GOOD JOB ON THIS SITE. IT'S THE FIRST PLACE I GO TO IN THE MORNING.

Beautiful picture. Makes it look like the woods are on fire with the flaming orange trees and the smokey clouds. May this be the only blaze!

By Ken from da UP on Tuesday, October 21, 2003 - 12:38 am:

RCW, WOW on this WOW!! Is this Bootjack or DB? What colors! Spent most of the day Sun. in South Range and the Eagle's for their Octoberfest. Kilpela and Friends played from 3 - 5. But we were there from 1 - 'til after 10. Nice crowd and nice music and a wondermous beef dinner.

Mr. A. D. Francis in Cornwall, England,
I'm a UP Pasty lover and trying a pasty from wherever you get yours would really be a treat. Thanks to your countrymen for giving Copper Country miners families the recipe.

Always nice to see the pics you have, especially the ones from Bootjack.

By RCW $ BAY on Tuesday, October 21, 2003 - 10:15 am:

Ken, the pic was in our back yard at the Bay.As you can see we made our move NORTH for the winter.

By Fran,Ga on Tuesday, October 21, 2003 - 11:14 am:

RCW,thought that was up on your hill. It sure used to be nice to just look out the window and see the beautiful scenery up there in both fall and winter. Sure do miss the fall leaves!!!

By Sherry, Gulfport MS on Wednesday, October 22, 2003 - 06:08 am:

Beautiful picture, Dad. I remember looking out the window at that view, sure do miss it. It would be worth making a trip home in the fall, as well as the summer. We don't get any colors like that here in Mississippi, only green turning to brown! Sherry

By Beverly, Mississippi on Saturday, October 25, 2003 - 12:06 am:

Sherry, I guess you have not seen the oaks outside the SMCC nursing building. They have leaves that are a beautiful brown, bronze, and a wonderful purple and burgundy. Then there is the tree in front of my neighbors house that turns lime green in spring and bright yellow in autumn. Then there is the dogwood that absolutely does not have an off season. However, it is still not home!! I've heard tell that you have to have really cold winters for the leaves to have a really red color. And I've never seen anything in Mississippi that could compete with the maples in Marquette County.

By Yooper in Okie Land, OKC Oklahoma on Thursday, October 30, 2003 - 01:57 pm:

Toivo, great Kodak moment. We missed our family's annual "SPAM FEST" hike to the U.P. so we must settle for your "slices of heaven". thanks. No sign of the hummingbirds or the "honkers" in OKC as of 10-30.
