In his Gallery notes, Z-Man locates this falls near Merriweather, which on the map is at the north end of Lake Gogebic. But a number of waterfall websites spot Kakabika on the Cisco Branch of the Ontonagon River south of the lake, near Gogebic Station. Could there be more than one Kakabika? or more than one Merriweather? Wherever this shot was captured, it's a masterpiece of northwoods beauty. Thanks, Z-Man!

Good morning Charlie, where or how do you get those great maps? I can't seem to find any that compare to your's..... Thanks!!

Where ever it is, that is the forest primeval for sure.

By Yooper Dan, Socal on Saturday, September 20, 2003 - 10:59 am:

Yeah, glad to see a picture from Gogebic County. Thanks Z-man. Thanks Charlie for the map. I agree with Frank on the quality of the map.

Awesome shot Z-Man--and the camera survived!! ;->

I agree with Yooper Dan - there's a plethora of beautious views in Gogebic County. I've got a lovely picture from Alligator's Eye on Lake Gogebic as well as from all the falls on the Black River down to Lake Superior - but no way to transmit the old shots. Also, if anyone has some time this fall, take a drive down the old Stage Coach Rd which runs between the south end of Lake Gogebic and U.S.2. It's a great ride.

Robin Hood and your merry men, where are you? And Snow White was lead deep into the woods......wherever it is, take me there, but don't leave me!

I was just at the 2004 calendar nominations site and it says to limit your nominations to 12 selections only. Not sure what that means since I see many more than 12 photos nominated by one person.

Z-man,
What a beautiful photo of Kakabika Falls. Do you or
anyone else out there have any of Big Erick's Falls of
the Huron River (near Skanee) that you wouldn't mind
posting?
Trish

It looks like a painting. Almost velvety. I actually went to touch it on my screen. Gorgeous! It is now my wallpaper.

A truely beautiful shot. I especially like the slow shutter speed used to emphasis the movement of the water. This is one of those places that needs to be re-photographed again at a different time of day when the light would be better. Well done!
