One of the real Pasty Cam pioneers, Dan Urbanski, checks in with a scene you might encounter as you walk in the U.P. woods these days. One night this week I saw such a critter standing beside the road just north of Calumet, where the Jack Stevens snowmobile trail crosses US-41. I see Dan has assembled a few more his shots over in the Gallery.

Thanks to all the contributors who made this week on the Pasty Cam a pleasant and interesting experience, as always. We'll give Toivo from Toivola the long weekend off, looking forward to the completion of his 50 state tour next month.

Have a safe Labor Day weekend :o)

How many places can you go and see such a sight. Nice picture.

Outstanding photography by Dan Urbanski, don't miss checking it out. Wow. BTW, that might possibly have been me eating the chocolate fudge brownies at the game since I'm never far from great food....but it wasn't.

Hooray.............an Urbanski photograph. We have been waiting for this one for quite a while. Good work Mr. Urbanski. I hope folks will take the time to visit your web site and guest gallery. The ZMan has much to offer also.

Oh this is so cute! I think it would be a good calender picture. I think we need more months in the year to accomodate all of the great photos!!!

Dan, I just looked at your Gallery and they are superb. What a great way to start the day!!! I think we have some of the most talented people in our midst. THANKS!!!

Gosh it looks like the bear was thinkng of jumping on Dan...maybe thinking he would add some meat to his diet of berries and honey. Dan, you are a brave man as well as a very good photographer!!!....but, does your mother know you do this??

Thanks to all for stopping by Grandma's Pasties at the Minnesota State Fair. I've seem quite a few cammists. Outside of a very hot start which didn't make for good sales, things are going well. This break in the heat (53 degrees this morning) sure will change people's eating habits. Only three more days and it's over. Time does fly. Hope to see more cammists. Have a great day. *** Sandy ***

Let me add this Urbanski shot to the nominations I made earlier for the 2004 calendar. Is there anyone who comes up so consistently with memorable UP views?

Wow! What a great shot! Most of my bear pictures have consisted of the black bear in the black of night taken with a shaky hand. I could title those "Where's Da Bear?" I can't prove that I ever even saw them!

Great Photo Dan,
To me seeing a bear makes our trips to "God's Country" complete! We have spent many hours sitting at the dump near Copper Harbor watching for the bears before the EPA closed it! Now the bears come right down to town!
