After wrestling with a flat tire today, so tired I just want to drop into bed, first I find a little U.P. refreshment in the new Guest Gallery. Ever been to Grand Sable Lake? Perhaps next time when you visit Pictured Rocks.

Thanks to Cindy Freeman, and to all the contributors to the photo albums. Good night.

Nice shot, looks like summer is coming to a quick close in the UP. I can feel the cool mornings coming up and partridge season just around the bend...will be nice to get back and flush a few birds...even if I don't get any the walk in the UP wilderness is worth every minute...great site all, TK-ER-EZ, hey.

A few years ago I hiked from Grand Sable Lake to the Superior shore. Nothing but sand dunes for several miles. It felt like one was in the Sahara. I didn't think Michigan had THAT much sand.

Calumet, here we come! Leaving Tennessee in about 15 minutes on what promises to be the hottest and muggiest day of the year so far to catch the Packers game in Green Bay tomorrow evening and then heading north for the labor Day weekend. More pics for the Pasty-Cam!

Yippeee!

Hey John, Michigan has SAND. Try Sleeping Bear Dunes down under the Bridge sometime, it rocks! Well, not rocks, sand, but you know what I mean . . .

Looking forward to doin' a little fishing this weekend in our area, Crystal Falls.

All you folks coming up through Wisconsin might want to be on alert for the Harley weekend in Milwaukee. They are expecting a possible 100,000 bikers or more to meet there for Harleys 100th Anniversary this weekend.

It's not the pale moon that excites me; that thrills and delights me.... oh no! It's just the nearness of Mars!!

So if you've ever wanted to reach up and hand your favorite martian a cup of coffee - today would be the day to do it!! With a reach of 34,646,418 miles long, you could have done it this morning at 5:51am EDT. Best attempt in 60,000 years! I tried it but was just a few miles too short! The perihelion is this Saturday. This is where Mars gets closest to the sun in its elongated orbit. Mars will be visible all night long for the next week or so! More Mars Info

It was a real surprise to see my photo of Grand Sable Lake here this morning. Although I try to get to the U.P. at least once a year, I hadn't been to the Grand Marais area for about twenty years. I soon remembered how Mother Nature paints some beautiful scenes here at Grand Sable Lake, as well as the dunes, the logslide, and the gorgeous walk along the beach to the AuSable Lighthouse. Thanks for the nice comments.

Cindy, the cloud reflection on the water is what makes this photo special for me. Congratulations, it's a great shot.

Nice shot Cindy -
I stood in almost that same spot a couple years ago. While the scenery is beautiful, I enjoyed the silence as well.
