Have we really been doing this for 286 weeks? Yes, in fact, on Thursday this week, Pasty Cam celebrated 2,000 days of bringing you a daily glimpse of life in the U.P. Along the way we have enjoyed photos from dozens of old and new friends, like today's from Z-Man, ever in search of the real flavor of 'up north'.

We were just in Lindell's on our vacation. It's so gorgeous inside. All that original tile, the booths, and all the interesting antiques displayed. We were showing our son-in-law some of the goodies the UP has to offer. He had never been further north than Brighton, Michigan. He absolutely loved the UP and said when he and our daughter have kids, he's bringing them up there (I hope he goes back up before then too...).

Once on a vacation, we met the Geekus (sp?) family, who owned Lindell's at one time. They were staying at the same place we were. It was really nice to meet them - very nice people. Hamburgers, huh? I'll have to try one next time.

It makes me so homesick! Left Lake Linden 20 years ago and have only been back a few times, the last was 3 years ago. Would love to be back "home". Looks like some things have really changed...But it's comforting to know some things, like Lindell's, are still the same. Thanks to all who make pasty.com such a great site!

My Mom worked for the Geikas' when she was a young woman. She worked in the "Candy Kitchen" I think it was called. I think it was next door or in another part of the remaining Lindells. I'll have to ask my sister when it was.She also said they were very nice people.We always try to go in there when we are home. It's really a nice place!

This picture brings back some great memories from when i would go to LL with my mom to help her get ready for school and then lunch !!

And how about those Friday night fish fries that Rich would put on eh.

I agree with the Yooper from Utah. It makes me home sick every time I look at this web site. But unlike him/her, I go home twice a year. I was born in Hancock and raised in Ripley. My parents live in Rock now. I make a trip to the Copper Country every time I come home so I can get some subs and pizzas from the Ambassador. John Hill.

This place is a true treasure. I hope it never changes. Best coffee and breakfast a guy could ever have. We eat there everytime we are in town...and if anyone reads this and sees my cousin Roger Waarala in there(we call him the mayor of LL)please say hello for me! Oh and I remember the days we would light off firecrackers in a little empty lot next door....back in the 60's-70's....such memories of the great LL.

My hubby and I ate at Lindell's TWICE while we were up visiting last May. It was so good. Love the homemade ice cream! We were impressed with the old photos inside of the HUGE trees that had been cut down from the U.P. and placed on trains to transport south. Is there anyway a copy of those photos could be posted on Pasty Cam???

Sorry folks, I erred! My sister said my Mom worked at Lindells when she was 15(1923).She worked for John and Angelo Gekas and their heirs who owned it for 43 yrs. until it was sold in 1977.
The Candy Kitchen was owned by Gekas's and located in Hancock. My Mom then worked for Charlie and Jim at the Candy Kitchen for 3 yrs (till 26) after her family moved back to Hancock in 24.

How could you not celebrated Lake Linden week without stoping into the Lindells for a home cooked meal and/or an ice cream treat.

Now I'm REALLY homesick after seeing the picture of Lindells.....my two sister's old hangout as teens.

I was surprised to see a picture of Lindells. We have a summer home in Bootjack and each summer take the grandchildren by boat to Lindells for an ice cream treat. We always tell them that their great-grandparents dated in the 1930's and had ice cream treats at Lindells. There certainly is history in that place. I try to imagine my mom and dad sipping on a cherry soda in one of those beautiful booths with a soft romantic light overhead. Was that balcony used for any purpose years ago? I'm curious to know.
