With the Lake behind me, and my face to the setting sun, this shot from David Woon in the Guest Gallery certainly seemed appropriate. He has a pleasant mix of flowers, rocks, lighthouses and shore in his album. Wonder where this shot was taken? I'm stumped.

I suppose I should catch up my travel diary which was sarted waay back at the end of the winter. Seems light years ago. Good night from the Canadian prairie, and good morning from da U.P.

I loved the pictures of the sunrise, and my favorite rock photo is the one of shallow water. Lovely!
Drive safely, Toivo...I loved reading your "travel journal" before and look forward to it again!

I know this a little off topic, but does anyone have information on Fourteen MIle Point Lighthouse? Who owns it, can you get to it by truck? I saw an aerial picture of it, and the caption said that it was started on fire in 1984 by vandals. What a waste. Did they ever get caught? Can I get there by snowmobile? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Later, Skylar.

For Skylar: For Lighthouses all over the USA try: www.terrypepper.com. Fourteen Mile Point Light Station is under Lake Superior lights. The pictures show a burned out shell and it is not accessable from land or water. Good Luck!

I swam in Lake Superior at Agate Beach on Sunday and the water felt pretty nice to me! Pretty warm for the big lake I thought.

Hey I was in the big lake on june 3 2003 and the water was warm that day but the next day you couldn't put your big toe in

It's all about the wind. A breeze out of the north or northwest will blow all the surface water into shore and swimming will be dandy. A day later, with an offshore breeze... the lake will turn over and you'll freeze your Old Testaments. This is just my theory, however, and is unsupported by the meteorological community. Beware the beach flies, and don't tell the tourists that Lake Superior can actually be pleasant this time of year.
