Last night as I went up to bed I carried along our trusty web pad, a wireless touch-screen computer which allows browsing anywhere in the house. It was neat to watch several slide shows in the new guest gallery, until I finally fell asleep. The last shot I remember was this graceful photo, taken somewhere in a U.P. meadow by Donn de Yampert.

This scene reminded me of some action shots taken by Donn last summer, some other beautiful creatures galloping across the meadow at Michigan Tech:

from the Archives
...which I easily found on our new search page, in case you haven't discovered it. keyword: soccer - in the Google power search.

By the way, you may notice currently that Donn's album is the final entry in the gallery index. That's because his was the first album created, and the index keeps them in reverse order of their initial date. We are still working on ways to organize the guest gallery, perhaps alphabetically, for easier access. In the meantime, you can put any photographer's name in the handy search box at the top of the gallery page, and jump directly to their album. Try it with Z-man to see another excellent collection.

Thanks to all who have added hundreds of pictures this week in this expanded visual journal of Michigan's U.P.

Beautiful picture. We moved to Wyoming last week and there are horses everywhere! But no trees! It may be a long time before we visit the UP again so keep the wonderful pictures coming. This is a WOW as was yesterday's picture. I'll have to live with virtual trees I guess.

The horses are beautiful, the scenery even better.
Miss those skys, landscapes and PINE trees.
The soccer photo was neat. My son is a soccer USA ref and coach. He is a better ref because he is a coach! The couple in the background are too cute.
Say Hi to Lake Superior for me:)

Is it getting crowded up yonder with trolls and former yoopers?? Wish this former yooper was up there!

By Troll in Eagle Harbor on Thursday, July 3, 2003 - 03:24 pm:

Displaced Troll... 3 months ago you could have parked in the middle of M-26 for a conversation with a friend.Try that now and there'd be a 7 Winnebago pile up.2 more months til Sept. and a little slower pace...4 more months and we'll more'n likely be dealing with the snow again.

The 4th of July!
A proud day in American history...
The birth of our democracy...
A day that affirms everyone's right to life... liberty... and the freedom of choice in selecting where you buy your pasties!

Lets not forget to wish a Happy 4th of July to all those men and women serving away from home helping to keep the Fourth a special day. Wish I was home in the UP but 7 years in a row now I've been at sea on this day of the year.
