Have you taken a tour of the new guest gallery yet? Hundreds of photos have been published in growing selection of albums. One of the albums which caught my eye came from Matthew Nyland of Chandler, Arizona. Obviously Matthew has spent a lot of time in the Copper Country, with a wide variety of scenes around the area.

Speaking of new, the Fudgie Pastie people have a new web cam high above downtown Escanaba, with a super view of the Harbor. Check it out.

And another bit of news... Pasty Central pasties are now available in several locations for travelers coming to the Keweenaw. The Hilltop Restaurant would be a good stop on your way through L'Anse, or stop by for dinner at the Tamarack Inn in Copper Harbor, where you will find Pasty Central on the menu.

Yes, it is definitely Covered Road. Meant to take my friend from Virginia there, but never made it. She saw a million other beautiful places up here though...

Is anyone familiar with the camp on the covered road once known as the clubhouse?

This web site is so great, yet it continues to improve everyday! I love the Escanaba Cam (Fudgie Cam)! The tree view is great on the search page, but could you please put back the last update date and time? So many wonderful features to check out... so little time!!

All these past-e-mailers going up for the 4th proves that the Copper Country is the only place to be on our country's birthday!

Its hot here in Green Bay. Holly wha! Cant wait to see my Gal in Kalamazoo on Thursday. The weather in Escanaba is wonderful and the bay is like a giant bathtub right now. The jet skis are gased up and ready to glide over the water.
Just have one more day of work to get through and fun time begins for the next 5 days. Love ya Gal in Kazoo.

Ahh Covered Drive, an abundant haven of flora and fauna encompassing the thoroughfare with nature's awning, as it meanders amidst the timber. I have travelled the road habitually during the spring steelhead season, and am unremittingly daunted by the innate grandeur of said area indeed. Kudos on capturing the essence in full.

Yesterday I did tour the new guest gallery, found this picture and set it as my background, surprised I was to see it on the pasty cam today.

The Covered road has a nice downhill grade for biking to red-ridge.

While viewing pictures in the guest gallery, I saw pictures of Havens Falls. Where is that one? In 30 years of visiting the Twin Lakes area I have not heard of it but I do want to see it the next time I'm up there.

That is a great photo! It reminds me of some of the roads that wind their way through Pictured Rocks... When I look into that photo I can almost smell the woods!

Also remember, Dave, while you are whiffing out those woods you are also breathing the purest, most vitalizing air on earth!

Bill-Haven Falls is in a roadside park just outside Lac La Belle.

Thank you all for the comments on the pic. I was in the U.P. just a couple of weeks ago for Bridgefest. I forgot how much I miss it !!

Methinks there was a place on the covered road that was once a corporate retreat type of place. That may be the place you're thinking of CJ. I think it was later owned by a Christopherson who I believe was a prof at Tech.

Pasty Central pasties at the Hilltop? Yes!!!

I think I remember a camp called the "Clubhouse" that was actually located on the inlet end of the Redridge Dam backwaters. I don't believe it was very fancy. Access to get to it was off the covered road, though. My family always called this road "The Green Road", for obvious reasons. I suppose we'd have to call it "The White Road" if we visited in winter.

Escanaba Greetings.....ck out the Esky web cam and you can see the old historic "House of Ludington"...it is the large white bldg in the background,and it overooks Lake Michigan...it is a lovely old hotel and has an elegant dining room and gardens.....the brown brick building in the forground is the State office bldg (why we moved to Escanaba).. overcast today and nice and cool...Happy Fourth of July!!!!

I know where your going, if your driving covered road for Steelhead. See you in the Salmon Trout!! The salmon were great last fall...

To cj,mi and Gary,CO--Yes there was and is a camp on the covered road called the clubhouse. I am the owner currently(and for the last 28 years)!

It is located about 3/4 mile off the Covered Road on a two rut road that actually was the railroad spur that ended up being the railraod tracks that went over the dam. Today the camp(clubhouse) is in excellent shape and my favorite place in the world. Outside the sauna are some cedar chairs and swing that overlook the backwaters of the Redridge Dam and the view is priceless.

Love to hear any history about the place....
