Last month some powerful rains hit Superior's southern shore. Quite a bit of damage resulted along the northern U.P.

I'd be curious to know just how much the repairs cost on M-26 and Garden City Road, which were washed out by the Creek which runs through Camp Gitche Gumee here in Eagle River. Good work by the Road Commission, finishing in time for the camping season to begin next week.

Now that's a serious pot hole! I thought the ones here in the lower were bad.

Yesterday on the lead page to PASTY CAM there was a SKYVIEW location to go to and today it is gone. I failed to bookmark it and do not know how to find it. Can someone tell me the web site for it?
I would appreciate it greatly, I did not get to look at all the pictures. Thank You

Charlie,
Is this the road that goes past the main entrance of the camp? I spent many weeks at Gitche Gumee growing up but for some reason I just can't picture where this is. Thanks!

Charlie, Was there much damage to the creek where it flows through Gitche Gumee? Was the bridge damaged?

Sarah - Stuck in OHIO; Thank you for the response. I could not for the life of me remember the web site. there are a lot of great pictures there to look at and use as wallpaper. I now have it bookmarked. Thanks Again Greg

15 days and I'll be back home. Woo hoo!!!

By Charlie at Pasty Central on Thursday, June 12, 2003 - 09:13 pm:

A few answers...

Drew - Yes, this is the road running past Gitche Gumee. This section was not blacktopped in years past, which makes it look a bit different.

Bill - There was no damage to the camp or the bridge. The highway below Gitch Gumee was also washed out, but as a main highway it was repaired right away.

Robert - Look again at the WOW page. If you don't see up through 'Taka's Rose' last week, refresh or reload your browser. We've had some incredible Wow's this quarter... Looking forward to this year's calendar.

Maybe it's time for another screen saver CD, too?

Thanks for the visual! I'd only heard about the washout, but couldn't picture it until seeing it here. Gitche Gumee folk said they had to go thru Eagle Harbor to get vehicles to the opposite side a few feet away!
