Looks like sunny skies have settled in to the Copper Country. The Sundew is moored on the canal, in front of that old historic building which houses Medical Arts. Remember when it used to be a Bonanza? This shot sent our way by aspiring Pasty Camist Melissa Powers.

Well, I realized just now that our new line of T-shirt has special meaning, in light of my present locale.
Good night from Virginia, and good morning from da U.P. trip notes va

Now THAT was funny! Very Witty!

By TROLL in E.H. on Tuesday, May 6, 2003 - 01:08 am:

I watched the Sundew and her crew place the bouy at the entrance to Eagle Harbor last week.Been up here for 10 winters and it was the first time I've been able to witness the rite of Spring. Won't be long and the town will once again be crowded with snowbirds and tourists.

Great to see the Sundew. I haven't seen her since she left Charlevoix several years ago. For an older lady she looks in great shape.

Remember when it was the Bonanza, before that it was Northern Graphics and long before it was a bank.

Toivo is actually AN____, real interesting. Also, trying to make something of the map showing places Toivo (?) traveled. Just might be a clue somewhere in there.

Great picture of the Sundue, Can't wait for my trip to the UP this year, see the weather is getting warmer and love to spend my time at camp betsy and see the big lake.

By Barb, Beautiful Downtown Jacobsville on Tuesday, May 6, 2003 - 05:51 pm:

The Sundew had to come back to the Lower Entry (Jacobsville area) again this morning because three of the buoys they had planted had come loose. They're still working down here!

According to the Weather Channel there were many tornados in the Atlanta Georgia area. Hope Alex is ok........

By chance, is there an archives of the Bridgecam that might show the Sundew crossing underneath? I've never seen the bridge raised for traffic before, and would love to make that shot my newest wallpaper!

There's a picture in the archives, but it isn't the Sundew crossing underneath the bridge, it's the freighter Algorail. It was posted on Sept. 18, 2000. You can just click on the link below to get to it! Hope this helps..

Dialed in to Pasty.NET just outside the Beltway around DC. Checking the photo-inbox tonight I found another shot of the Sundew from Rob Wetton.

The bridge goes up every Tuesday and Friday during the summer months at 9:00 A.M. local time for the Ranger that goes to Isle Royale...it returns around 3:15/3:30 pm on Wednesdays and Saturdays....May 1 is usually the first trip of the year.....I saw it going up on April 30th for the first time this year and have it as my wallpaper......nothing like this bridge yet i did see a similar one in Maine but it was only two lanes and not four.....

Alex IS alright... and appreciates the comment that someone thought about us. THANK YOU! It was certainly a mess here today and we had to take cover twice. I am the County Emergency Coordinator for Gwinnett County Skywarn... We are Spotters, (NOT Chasers), who report to Emergency Management and The National Weather Service. We were really busy today and a few more day's worth is rolling in!

Thanks for thinking about me. That made me feel so good!

To J. Hamilton of California. . .Medical Arts is the name of Dr. Mark Shebuski's medical practice. Dr. Mark is a HHS graduate who came back to Houghton in 1983. He's a great family practice physician (probably the best in the area). He's also certified by the American Academy of Medical Acupuncturists. He's well-versed in Western and Eastern medicine. He's also certified in sports meds and geriatric meds. His wife, Dr. Gail Shebuski is the Health Officer and Medical Director of the Western U. P. District Health Department. She's also a Neonatologist. Both are U of M grads. These are brilliant people. Loving parents, as well as supporters of the community, church, public radio & tv and the schools.
