There was a night, in Wisconsin, when the moon was full and the loons were calling down at the lake, and I and my wife were sitting in the adorondack chairs remembering what it was like when our kids were small. You know, before the time when they were constantly calling for one or the other of you, and when all you wanted was to have just the very next moment (not a long time) to relax and to not have to run after the kids. Well, that was the night when we chose to not rush to find out what they wanted or needed but, instead, just sat and looked at each other in the moonlight. Oh, did I mention that the full moon had come up in the midst of one of the children's crys? Well, it did. And we looked at each other and sighed. Just sighed. And looked again at the moon before we went back in. What a great night.
